Chelsea Player Ratings v FC Nordsjælland:

Petr Cech: 7

Made a world-class save when we were leading by a single goal and those sort of margins change games.

Branislav Ivanovic: 5.5

Made an effort to get forward which is appreciated although ultimately ineffective. Didn’t have one of his better days in defence.

David Luiz: 6

Constantly hoofing the ball up the park, only he knows who he’s aiming for. Terrific free-kick to put us 2-0 up though.

Gary Cahill: 6

A little more solid defensively that his defensive partner but was an average performance from both.

Ashley Cole: 5.5

Similar performance to Ivanovic. Perhaps it’s down to fatigue. Would have liked to see Ryan Bertrand and Cesar Azpilicueta in the side instead.

Ramires: 8

One of the best players in the park and a tireless work-rate. Had more than his fair share of defensive duties to attend to in John Obi Mikel’s absence.

Frank Lampard: 5

Assisted Juan Mata for the opener but is still guilty of the awful habit of abandoning his central midfield position and we were overrun in midfield through most of the second half. It’s games like these when you realise how much work Mikel does there and how important he is.

Victor Moses: 6

He offers something different and has great pace about him, but there’s no end product there at the moment and this is something he must work on. Did ok.

Juan Mata: 8.5

My man of the match not only for his two goals, but his all-round game. He knows when to keep the ball, when to give it and we’re blessed to have a talent like his in the side.

Oscar: 7

He always seems to show plenty of classy touches and makes his decision quickly. He’s had better games in a Chelsea shirt but he works his socks off and linked well with Ramires for the third goal.

Fernando Torres: 6.5

Didn’t find the net tonight and probably should have done as he missed three golden opportunities. Seemed to live offside for most of the first half, but put the work in an played a part in the goals.

Eden Hazard: 6

John Obi Mikel: 5

…But that’s just my opinion. What did you think of tonight’s match and how would you rate our performance?

The team played well yet it is work in progress. Good job RDM and crew. We will just fill good & note nothing to selebrate yet. Nowrich will not be an easy game, So let us prepare for them.

Nice game RMD and d players, but he should have start betran and Apz at the side backs, and refreshing the team wit marin! Just keep lampard in the bench for super_sub and play him in his normal role,up blues!!!

  3. starlon says:

Mikel is the man for midfield! For better result please RMD PLAY MIKEL AND LEAVE GREAT LAMPARD.

  4. kayode says:

Lampard did well yesterday but the danish still controlled the midfield. Had they better finishers, it would have been another Atl Madrid.

Lampard should play only carling cup going forward. Bring in a Felaini into the midfield and try Ramires and Romeo. Finally, We must not fail to address the top striker failure of the last transfer window. We must bring in somebody to give Torres competition

    Up Blues!

The absence of Mikel was so obvious until he came in. Not a big fan of him but take nothing away from the fact that he dictates the pace of the game and stabilizes the team generally. Greak free kick from Luiz but can somebody please tell him to stop those erratic long balls? Its just sickening. Oscar is such a handfull, the guy works soo much similar to Ramires. The Chelsea team must get the credit they deserve, without Didier, the team is working so hard for themselves and yielding results too. Kudos guys! I hope Marin and other fringe players get some playing time too to boost their confidence. Cech is our messiah, we need to accord him more respect. RDM so far so good! Double thumbs up.

  6. Morino Ifeanyi says:

Good game guys. But RDM please give the new players more playin time to boost their confidence

  7. cheenu says:

the game was gud overall.. Lampard should b given contract extension cz he is the most reliable.. N obviously.better than mikel..

  8. Eidur says:

Put Lamps out to pasture. No way he’s getting an extension on silly wages at his age, and he won’t take a paycut when he can earn big in the USA.

He’s a legend, yes, but currently he does more harm than good and spoiling the team shape is criminal.

Leave nostalgia to United and the scummy Scousers, we’re a forward thinking outfit – making history, not living in it.

  9. Martinho da silva says:

No Mikel no chelsea midfield. Lamps was busy giving Ramires too much ground to cover and mark

  10. Yemi says:

Lies! Lamp wasn’t what u said, have forgoten he gave out a brilliant pass that produced our first goal?you people lack the truth! Moses did not perform up to an expectation at all.lamp should be rated above him.lamp wasn’t the only one in the midfield, was he? Why did you say his poor form led to the domination of the Nor?that lamp is old doesnt mean he can never play well! Haba! to the point of tagging a legend ‘useless’ it is unfair.
