A two hour meeting was held between Luka and Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, in an attempt to provide a resolution to the issue.

Modric did not feature in Spurs’ 0-0 draw with Hearts in the Europa League on Thursday night, meaning he would still be eligible to represent other clubs in Europe, but Redknapp insists that the midfielder will be a Tottenham player come September the first.

During the meeting with the Tottenham chairman, Modric once again expressed his desire to play for Chelsea, however, Daniel Levy reminded the Tottenham star that he will not enter any negotiations regarding the player’s sale and that the Croatian midfielder will remain for another season.

Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, continues to remain confident about the Luka’s stay and is already planning ahead:

“I think there was a meeting. Daniel just said the same thing – he’s not for sale. It’s been difficult for him but we want him to stay and he will stay. He’ll train tomorrow and Saturday and should be fit for Sunday.”

Chelsea, however seem reluctant to withdraw themselves from the saga and are currently pondering whether to bid 40 million pounds to finally prise the midfielder from Spurs. The Blues have already seen two bids rejected for Modric and with only four days left to the end of the window, they may need to step up their chase very soon to get their man.

Although this summer has seen Chelsea constantly chasing their Croatian target, Modric may not be the only one on AVB’s radar. Having already snapped up Spanish star Juan Mata this week, Porto duo Joao Moutinho and Alvaro Pereira are both heavily linked with a move to west London before the close of the transfer window.

You can’t be serious, £40m for Modric? If there’s any truth in that then AVB should have “Mug” tattooed on his forehead and Ron Gourly should have it expanded to “Mugged” on his!

So sad all this Summer nonsense. I think it is time that Spurs moved this Modric saga to the courts and to the FA. It has been qa totally unprincipled process with much being conducted via the media.

    • Norman says:

The only person who seems to be talking to the media is Harry Redknapp and there’s no point in taking him to court, he’s far too familiar with the legal process for anything to stick.

    • RomeuMustDie says:

Take it to court and do what exactly?

Can’t prevent people from talking about it because it makes you cry, ya fascist.

Dont worry about the Fa and tapping up when fair play comes in chelsea will be finished just like they should of been before if Abramovich hadnt rescued them from oblivian, only a stay of execution COYS

I readelsewhere that VB said that normally there is an offer and a counter-offer. That gives real insight into Chelsea’s thinking. The iniial 22 million was a pre-empt to produce a counter offer. Despite the fact that Levy had made it clear Modric was not for sale Chelsea thought they were in the middle of a negotiation—sxomething very wrong there.

I also read that Spurs might be offered Benayoun!! Why on Earth would Spurs want him or Drogba or Alex or Kalou or Malouda. The media keep dangling the Chelsea excess baggage as if they were tempting. Throw in Sturridge and 40 million and negotiations might start.

    • Norman says:

“Throw in Sturridge and 40 million and negotiations might start”……. you mean preempt a counter offer despite the fact that Levy has made it clear Modric is not for sale?

  5. david says:

Might as well fish for one of the only two class English players Chelsea have. Throw in McEachran as well as Sturridge and you can have him for 35 million

  6. Alex says:

good now we can go for sniejder instead!!!

  7. FreskimCFC says:

F**K U Harry Redknapp ….luka modric is ours

  8. Greaves266 says:

Cheatski. A team with no history, no class and a bunch of “glory-hunting mug-punters” masquerading as supporters.

I hope Mr Levy sticks to his word and reminds you where to go.

So says someone named after a Chelsea youth product? For shame. Funny how a player from a club with “no history” managed to have such a bearing on Spurs illustrious past, isn’t it?

When you have the managerial equivalent of Del trotter running your team, the closest thing to a second hand car salesman football can offer you talk about a lack of class and generalise about Chelsea fans in an almost racist sense? Would it please you more if we lifelong Chelsea fans(who despise JCLs as much as anyone)turned our backs on the club because we don’t care for the owner or his roubles? Seriously, what would you have done had that fateful helicopter ride NOT taken RA over The Bridge?

You seem very bitter and VERY one eyed over all of this and the fact remains that nobody who ever had ANY dealings with LM thinks he’s a troublemaker and Chelsea are yet to even speak to the boy so where Harry gets his “trebled wages” from is beyond me(esp when Mata is getting £55,000 a week)too. Modric is only complaining because he feels Levy has lied to him to get him to sign an extension. This is a Tottenham issue and NOT a Chelsea issue and the man keeping this in the papwers is NOT from Chelsea-it’s Harry, again.

Why? Because he wants to get selling some more cars and you well know it. Chelsea are better off looking to Ganso, Krasic or literally any of the other options of decent class around ruight now because when we, supposedly, went to £27million it was way too much-Modric is NOT a Sneider class player. Neither are Ganso or Krasic but they won’t cost £40million either-as neither would Wesley!

We are aware were we are going (to play in Champions League) … but do u know where SPURS are going .. look at the last 10 yrs we have grown as a club .. we are currently ranked 3rd as per UEFA ranking .. where is spurs ?? I WOULD WANT MODRIC TO COME UP AND SAY HE WANTS TO STAY AT SPURS … THAT WOULD BE THE END OF IT …

  9. OWEN says:

spurs fans remember we are not a small club like you
are ,a lot of players are dying to come to the bridge(mata, modric, vandvart, hazard)even your coach and your dictator chairman ,so whatever happens we will get in somebody better lets say hazard, sneider, how will that feel.and on your dream to play in CL ,ill say keep on dreaming because it will never happen, you will rot in Europa league.you don’t deserve our money ,cant even attract our REJECT Diara.pathetic small club.

    • Greaves266 says:

Don’t mug yourself off, they only want to come for money.

I don’t begrudge Man City their signings, but do you think those players would have signed for them if it wasn’t for the money? Of course not. Cheatski are exactly the same. Players may want to join you, but only for money. So stop kidding yourself that they are lifelong supporters.

      • TIMLOS says:

At least we sign them for money, not ENSLAVE them like a club I know. If your so called clubs with history can sell their players, Man U sold Ronaldo, Liverpool sold Torres, Arsenal sold Fabregas, WHO THE HELL IS TOTTENHAM?

      • Chelsea Forever says:

Please tell me who was the last player to join TOT considering their history and a life long dream of playing for the club … LOL

  10. Gary says:

We keep hearing from Levy & Redknapp when we really want to hear from Modric. Levy & Redknapp will give us their side of the story, but it’s Modric’s life and career. Can he please be allowed to speak because we don’t trust anyone else.

    • Greaves266 says:

To be fair, we don’t really hear much from Mr Levy. However, Redknapp seems to have plenty to say for himself!

    • Ray says:

Why the f**k should we hear from Modric, the little c**t still has 5 years remaining on his contract besides, we hear far too much from Redknapp. Levy has been very dignified and only spoken once to the media so Gary, where you keep hearing Levy talking is in your empty void between your ears. I wonder what Chelsea would do should Man City, a far richer club decide to go after one of Chelsea’s star players in a year or so with the same dogged media driven persuit. Will they start crying and kicking up a stink like the hyprocrits that they are or would they sell like they want Spurs to do with Modric?

      • TIMLOS says:

We would sell, that’s what we would do. WE DON’T ENSLAVE OUR PLAYERS AND NO SINGLE PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN CHELSEA. Afterall we sold Robben. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves, signing the guy on 45k per week for 5yrs. Sure you could not believe your luck.

        • Ray says:

TIMLOS if you knew how stupid you sound you wouldn’t open your big mouth let alone try to write anything. You did however manage to get something right though, NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN ANY CLUB NOT SPURS OR CHEATSKI and if you believe that Modric signed a six year contract for £45K per week you’re not only stupid but gullible and a slave to the media. I’ll bet you’re the sort that if a report in any of the newspapers (mainly low class) said to jump you would ask how high not why you bumbo.
