A two hour meeting was held between Luka and Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, in an attempt to provide a resolution to the issue.

Modric did not feature in Spurs’ 0-0 draw with Hearts in the Europa League on Thursday night, meaning he would still be eligible to represent other clubs in Europe, but Redknapp insists that the midfielder will be a Tottenham player come September the first.

During the meeting with the Tottenham chairman, Modric once again expressed his desire to play for Chelsea, however, Daniel Levy reminded the Tottenham star that he will not enter any negotiations regarding the player’s sale and that the Croatian midfielder will remain for another season.

Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, continues to remain confident about the Luka’s stay and is already planning ahead:

“I think there was a meeting. Daniel just said the same thing – he’s not for sale. It’s been difficult for him but we want him to stay and he will stay. He’ll train tomorrow and Saturday and should be fit for Sunday.”

Chelsea, however seem reluctant to withdraw themselves from the saga and are currently pondering whether to bid 40 million pounds to finally prise the midfielder from Spurs. The Blues have already seen two bids rejected for Modric and with only four days left to the end of the window, they may need to step up their chase very soon to get their man.

Although this summer has seen Chelsea constantly chasing their Croatian target, Modric may not be the only one on AVB’s radar. Having already snapped up Spanish star Juan Mata this week, Porto duo Joao Moutinho and Alvaro Pereira are both heavily linked with a move to west London before the close of the transfer window.

Yommite, your command of the English language is very poor and your diction is non existant which makes you sound illiterate. May I remind you that Wenger bought cesc Fabregas from Barcelona seven(7) years ago whilst still a teenager. The boy has served Arsenal with distinction over that period of time and wanted to return home. He didnt demand a transfer or create a fuss. Who can really begrudge him wish to go back home to Spain and Barcelona after seven years in England. Very different story with Nasri, he left Arsenal for the money it’s as simple as that no matter what he says. Arsenal are still in the CL. In any case, this would have been his last year at Arsenal under contract and they decided to cash in rather than lose him on a free transfer. Modric has been at Spurs three(3) years, he still has five(5) years remaining. This is the best group of players Spurs have had for some time and he is seen as an integral part of this group of players. As a Spurs fan, I’m glad that our Chairman has stood his ground with Modric who professed his devotion to Spurs not so long ago, signed a six(6) year extension a year ago now he wants to renege on his contract. I remember the years Chelsea were selling players left right and centre just to stay alive as a club. The Russian saved Chelsea’s bacon with his money now they think that they can do what they want to who ever they want, think again. Keep in mind that there is a far richer club in the EPL in Man City and they may well be eying up a few of your better players in the not too distant future. As for Redknapp being the president of tapping up players, that’s your opinion but he does not sign or sell players at Spurs, our Chairman Daniel Levy does that, perhaps you can accuse him of tapping up. Certainly he could learn a thing or two from the Russian.
