The chase for Romelu Lukaku has been something of a saga as the Belgian, dubbed the ‘new Drogba’ has been courted by many of Europe’s top, but it could all come to a head some as the player is keen to have his future sorted by Monday.
Lukaku, 18, said:
“It is going to be one of the top two or three in England – or else I stay in Anderlecht.”
I have heard that the forward may have a ‘minor injury’ and has been pulled out of the Belgian squad to play Turkey on Friday, which is convenient with news that an arrival at Stamford Bridge in the offing.
Assuming this deal goes through, would you be happy with Lukaku and what do you expect from him in future?

It remains to be seen if he can partner with Torres but we can’t put all our eggs in one basket. If Torres doesn’t make good we’ll have a good replacement for the single striker role after Drogba retires. Mad if we don’t pick him up. Even madder if he goes to our rivals.

I could be totally wrong on this but I cannot see Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku. Now I have said that he will most probably sign for us next week!
Seriously, it has been well documented as to the type of football Roman Abramovich wants his team to play. If we wanted a Lukaku type player why not bring Dan Sturridge back into the team? At least Sturridge has proved he can score in the competitive world of Premiership football rather than a micky mouse league like Belgium’s. Anderlecht want a lot of money for the lad who has yet to prove himself at the highest level. Personally I believe Roman is more interested in us acquiring players who will assist the new Manager in getting both Drogba and Torres forging a lethal partnership together. Players like Neymar, Aguero and Moderic are more the ‘type’ of player I believe Roman is interested in for the club. Each of these players would cost a considerable amounts of money but they are the type of player, I believe, that could get our two strikers making a real impact. I can’t see Lukaku doing anything other than giving the new Manager a headache and unnecessary grief for not getting enough playing time and all for a hefty outlay of near £30m! Thats nearly as much as Kun Aguero or Neymar would cost us and most probably more than we would have to pay for Moderic. Time will tell but I have a feeling that Anderlecht have priced their younster out of the market and that he will still be with them next term.
Not sayin the young kid isn’t a good player because he is. However he is unproven in a big league like the Prem. We need players w/ creative ability who can give service to our already deadly strikers (drogba, torres, sturridge). Our squad is aging and i do think that we need to start rebuilding a younger squad. However, if we bring in players like Lukaku he isn’t going to bring the instant impact that we need to go against the likes of Barca. We need players who can make an instant impact. My top 3 Transfer list in order of importance for Chelsea:
1.) Alexis Sanchez- the kid is young (22) has strength and some of the best balance that i’ve seen. He has great dribbling ability and still have good vision of the pitch. He is a pure attacking winger and this is the an area that Chelsea is clearly weak at. I think he should be our number 1 priority.
2.) Neymar- has incredible amounts of ability no doubt about it. However, i don’t think he should be chelsea’s number 1 target. He has a possible attitude issue, an although I would overlook this issue and would love to sign him, Neymar is more of a striker than a pure winger. Chelsea already have (Drogba, Torres, Sturridge, Kalou, Anelka-who’s basically gone, and possibly the 18 yr Belgium striker). Due to this fact alone I would go after Sanchez over Neymar.
3.) Younger Midfield player- either Modric, Snieder, Bale etc.

I am totally against this article because chelsea don’t need that power upfront we need flair creativity and stability something we haven’t had since robben wright phillips left. In my opinion though but these are the players we need to be looking and signing sneijder/modric hazard/sanchez marin/mata. We need pace on the wing and a class right back van der weil and let hiddink buy the players of abramovich interfering all the time that’s why we haven’t got mourinho anymore. CFC forever

I don’t know about about lukaku deal but i would love to see neymar and sanchez in the chelsea squad rather than goin for aguero and any one else.
