Chelsea are yet to have a new manager in place but are already looking to bring new additions to Stamford Bridge this summer, with five players set to leave the club and another five come in, according to The Independent.

The newspaper suggests that Nicolas Anelka, Yury Zhirkov, Jose Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira and Henrique Hilario will be leaving west London. And despite reports linking Didier Drogba with a move away, the club are not planning on moving him on, apparently.

It is believed that Neymar (Santos), Kevin de Bruyne (Genk), Romelu Lukaku (Anderlecht), Dutch right-back Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax) and a reliable backup goalkeeper like Asmir Begovic are the five players that Chelsea hopes to sign ahead of next season.

However, whether we’re playing 442 or 433, it really wouldn’t make any sense to have Neymar, Lukaku, Drogba, Fernando Torres, Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge at the club, it sounds as though we’d just be creating a headache for ourselves and if we were to continue with the preferred 433 we’ll be playing players out of position, why not buy wingers to play wide instead of putting forwards there? And if we change to 442, again the same problem, de Bruyne can play left side but still no right-sided winger/midfielder.

Also, it doesn’t address the need for a natural passer or playmaker in midfield and it will be disappointing if we continue to let this long-standing weakness go unresolved.

Instead of going for that lump Lukaku, why not spend the money on an attacking midfielder/winger like Eden Hazard, who creates chance after chance for Ligue 1 champions Lille, Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez, Werder Bremen’s Marko Marin or even make a cheeky bid for Tottenham’s Luka Modric?

Is Neymar really worth the attitude or will he be the next Robinho? Karim Benzema only has a year left on his contract at Real Madrid, could cost as little as £7m and despite being billed as something of a disappointment there, he has scored 35 goals and made 13 assists in his 81 appearances for the club. Kevin Gameiro has also impressed in France for his club Lorient by scoring 21 goals this season, as has Edinson Cavani, who has scored 26 in Serie A for Napoli.

If the striker making way for Neymar is Anelka, now a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge, then how do we expect to keep Torres and Drogba happy, as well as Neymar? I doubt Drogba will be happy to play backup for his £120k-a-week wages, Salomon Kalou seems disenchanted with his ‘super-sub’ tag and Sturridge, having impressed out on loan at Bolton, could be disappointingly loaned back out or even sold.

What ins/outs would you like to see at the club this summer?

    A right back would be a luxury, I wouldn’t include one in my five. 1)Neymar 2)Modric 3)Dzagoev 4) Sanchez 5)Mata.

    Would be amazing. The problem is, it can be argued that the squad at the moment could use five players. If we see the exodus we are expecting with the likes of Malouda, Anelka, Ferreira, Bosingwa and co go then surely we will need more than five players? or we will be in the exact same position we were in were in mid-season. Where will we get the squad depth?

      I still feel Modric is not as good as Nasri or Hamsik let alone Sneijder.I mean we have these three better options.

    I WISH SOMEONE ACTUALLY SENDS THIS COMMENT TO ABRAMOVICH or THE NEW MANAGER.
    Neymar as Left Wing
    Sanchez as Right Wing
    Sneijder or Nasri or Hamsik for some creativity as a CAM
    Gregory VDW as a RWB
    Sturridge as a super sub n even starter in EPL
    …McEachran n Ramires playing more often than Lampard n Essien (they are faster n at this pt. have the energy to take the team ahead)
    Lukaku just for the Future n in case we sell Drogba n Torres gets injured n Sturridge’s not firing.
    This shall give u sexier footbal than Milan 2004,Barcelona 2011 n Liverpool 2005….N it shal be called Chelsea 2012
    All we need is to create something of our own,not Follow Barca, like say a diamond attack with 2 wide wingers either penetrating in or supplying the striker n a CAM that keep the RW LW n ST working n Also linking the wing backs n the other 2 CMs in the game.A 4-2-3-1.
    Cech;
    VDW-Luiz-Terry-Cole;
    McEachran-Ramires;
    Sanchez-(Any of the 3 CAMs)-Neymar;
    Sturridge/Torres;
    I guess I might be dreaming but trust me I guess this will work.

      • Dustin says:

        you wash your mouth out for including Essien on that list. The guy had a bad season and was still pretty damn good. Look at the influence he had last year when he came back from injury (helped us claim the double when we had been faltering). He still has years to give

  3. tom in mombasa kenya says:

    we shouldnt go fr lukaku, let sturridge b given a chance,

    • Chris says:

      Sturridge should be given as much priority as Torres.Lukaku should be bought n loaned.

  4. Sean says:

    Modric may not be as good as Sneijder but he will be half the price

  8. Chelseaphan says:

    VDW/Ivanovic—Luiz/Alex—Jones/Bruma—Cole/VAH
    Ramires/Piazon—F.Rinaudo/M-kel—Josh/Modric

    Outs-
    Essien-Not good anymore

    Malouda-too Selfish
    Terry-Too Slow
    Bosingwa/Ferreira-Bad defenders
    Zhirkov-not good enough
    Hilario/Turnbull-not good enough
    kalou-not consistent enough
    Basically we need players that can dribble and run with the ball.

    • Chris says:

      Dude no offence but Terry n Lampard to be sold..Are u kidding me?..Lampard old but still a player who can play odd games n be good enough to let the young ones to settle in.Terry is like the best CB no matter what u I or any person on this planet feels.Rather than Modric we should get Nasri or Sneijder or Hamsik.Sneijder would be best as he’ll play good 2-3 years n then Piazon will be good enough to take up the job as the main CAM.Sanchez n Neymar ahead of any other signing.They are like Messi n Ronaldo playing togething on either wings.

      • Kyle says:

        I could not agree w/ you more. The major think Chelsea need is attacking wingers and Snachez is one of the best. I would love to see him in Blue. I like Sanchez over Neymar simply because i think he fits Chelsea needs- a true attacking winger. He isn’t selfish, but attacks when needed and does so in a fantastic manner. As things stand right now the only issue w/ our strikers is that we have too many good ones. I love Sturridge and Chelsea will kick themselves if they some how let him go. we need to start him or let him go on loan again so he can continue to develop his ability. Drogba and Torres are great talents as well. We can only hope their partnership gets better over the summer. Remember only 2 years ago it many thought that Anelka and Drogba couln’t play together

  9. Chelsea ledg--end says:

    Sanchez,Neymar and VDW
    4-2-3-1
    Cech
    VDW, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole
    Mceachran, Ramires
    Sanchez, Sturridge, Neymar
    Torres
    Bench:- Alex, Zhirkov,Essien,Lampard,Malouda,Anelka

    Sell:- Mikel,Bosingwa,Kalou and Drogba, will pain me to see him go but it’s just best 🙁

    With:-Delac,Betrand,PVA,Bruma,Chlobah,Kalas,Kakuta,Piazon breaking through eventually.

  10. kwaku says:

    i think it would be smarter instead of Lukaku
    buy someone like Alvaro Morata, or Ante Vukusic and i wouldn’t be surprised if Torres was sold in the January transfer window if he continues to under-perform.
    regardless, we must buy cheap.
    my guess:
    OUT: malouda, kalou, anelka, bosingwa,ferriera,
    Lampard(sorry but its time for him to go)
    IN: De Bruyne, Van der Wiel,Willian,Morata,Marko Marin,

    • Chris says:

      ZHirkhov n Drogba too.Drogba with respect.Lampard just not yet.Nice point on Torres.If wev buy good wingers n he still fails then Sturridge is waiting to be the best in EPL.

    • Anthony Williams says:

      Why would we sell a £50m player in January? Never going to get that back for him and he’ll get better, if you allow him to.

      Our setup all season was terrible for all the forwards because the midfield can’t pass and there’s no width. A lot of people want Malouda out, but he outscored Drogba and creates the most chances in open play (not bad for a selfish player).
