It is often said that Manchester United are the biggest club in the world, let alone the Premier League, and I guess you could say that these stats kind of prove that. Almost everyone on the globe is on Facebook these days and it appears that a huge number of people that are support Man United! We have been scouring Facebook for the official club fan pages of the 20 teams in the Premier League and you could say that the results weren’t surprising in regards to the most followed pages.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United were by far and away the leaders with more than 10 million fans, that’s more than twice as many as Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, who are the second, third and fourth most liked official Premier League club fan pages respectively. The rest of the top ten is to be expected, with the traditional bigger clubs’ larger fan bases resulting in more followers.

Mnchester United will be storming it on this facebook as we are the best supported club in the world, the club only opened facebook account in July 2010 and is the fastest growing club on facebook. Now I dont give a damn about facebook, twitter or the rest of that rubbish but I am not surprised that the worlds biggest club haves the most of any English club.

I’m not on facebook, twitter or any of that social networking crap.

lol Andy calm down mate… you do know that the utd is not the most supported club in the world righta survery was carried out and it was said that barcelona had 57m fans whereas utd had 30m fans, and that doesn’t mean they’re the best club in the world it just means that there are glory hunters world wide that support utd for their most premiere league titles and because they still manage to keep in the top 4 as liverpool fell down. Utd are not by far the most supported club because most of them are glory hunters and guranteed as fergie leaves and utd falls down, utd will not be supported as much… Wolverhampton is better supported than man utd because the fans support it through their worst and best times and not complain about the lack of performance and always speak positively about their efforts…

    truecfc
UTD have done many surveys on their world-wide popularity and they all come up with the same figure – 330 million world-wide. YES 330 MILLION.
Where did you get the figure of 30 million from?
    It’s absolute rubbish.
Incidentally it took UTD fans 8 months to get to 9 million. The next most popular club on Facebook is Barca and it took them 2 1/2 years to get to 9 million. Not only are UTD the best supported club BY FAR they leave every other club for dead.
In fact UTD passed the figure of 10 million 3 weeks ago, so in the past 3 weeks over 800k have signed up. Almost twice as many as the ‘massive’ club in Manchester.

It’s definitely no surprise that Manchester United are top, as they’re not only the biggest club in the world but the biggest sport franchise in the world overall.

So, perhaps it’s slightly surprising that they don’t have a bigger Facebook following considering they have an estimated 140 million core fans and over 330 million worldwide.

actually, according to facebook, its 11,041,739 today morning…. GGMU….

truecfc what a load of crap you’re talking about. Manchester United have been the biggest followed club increasingly since the 60’s and during periods when they won f#*% all..not just glory hunting supporters. The ‘facebook’ supporters gap will only get bigger as its still a new page they’ve only just started promoting. A hell of a lot of football supporters in the 30-45 age bracket actually support Liverpool so its a lot of those fans i’d actually call glory hunters following Liverpool’s sucess in the 80’s. I am surprised City, Newcastle in particular, havent got a lot more fb followers but to be honest…who gives a shit!

truecfc, United fan are all loyal supporters of United, think you find that it is Chelsea who haves gloryhunters not the best supported club in the world Manchster United, who haves 333million true diehard fans (not 30m). Time to get over your bitter jealousy, it is a fact that Chelsea haves 90% gloryhunters and 10% true fans. United has been the best supported English club for over 60yrs, we was evèn the best supported when not winning titles in the 70s and 80s, grow up deludo.

  9. Andy says:

Manchester United are the biggest football club in the world, the biggest sports franchise in the world, the most valuable club in the world, the best supported club in the world and one of the richest in the world. We have over 333 million supporters worldwide. We have a proud rich and glorious 133 year history that is unrivalled by any other club. We have more than 200 trophies (1st team – 60/ reserves – 56/ academy – 70/ other trophies such as pre-season – ???, its alot). We are Manchester United.

I don’t like the term ‘glory hunter’ or ‘plastic fan’, it seems to be something banded around a lot.

You can’t prove or disprove if anyone is or isn’t, so why bother? There are many reasons why someone may fall in love with a particular club. The important thing is they stick with that through thick and thin, no matter their age, geographical location or whatever.

This shouldn’t really be something that causes an argument, right?
