Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti and club owner Roman Abramovich have already ‘agreed’ a parting of the ways in the summer, according to football agent Carrie Baird, who was speaking to Sports Illustrated.

If this was true, who would you choose as a replacement?

The name on many fans’ lips would be Jose Mourinho, and there has been plenty of talk of his return to Stamford Bridge, especially as his old enemy Frank Arnesen is leaving this summer for German outfit Hamburg.

Mourinho had a successful stint at Chelsea, with the back-to-back Premier League title success being a particular highlight, but some have questioned his longevity, attitude and ability to nurture young players. Bringing him back would also be an admission that Abramovich was wrong, so I can’t see this one happening.

Two of the other candidates mentioned are former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard and his countryman Marco van Basten. Both of them are currently out of work as Rijkaard was recently sacked from his last position at Galatasaray and van Basten has not worked in a managerial role for nearly two years.

Hypothetically speaking, if Ancelotti was to leave the club this summer, who would you like to see take the helm and why? Let me know your views in the comments section below.

    Fully fully agree with Chelsea_Alan.

Really would rather Carlo to stay, it’s really nonsense to get rid of a manager one year removed from the clubs most succesful campaign; it’s laughable really.

BUT if Roman does stay to his old tricks and sack Carlo he better have Mourinho lined up. Mourinho is Chelsea, he loves Chelsea as much as we and he brings our trademark swagger with him. He is loved by all of his players, is a brilliant tactician and brings success everywhere he goes. If here long term, he will make Chelsea continually dominant for the next two decades. This is his home.

That’s all if Roman can admit his mistake, which I’m not sure will happen. The names Baird mentioned were Van Basten, Ten Cate, and Rijkaard-she went on to say Roman has been in contact with one of the three for the job. If it must be one of those I suppose Rijkaard? I mean he had success at Barca; took an aging squad and refurnished it with younger blood and played beautiful football. Van Basten and Ten Cate haven’t done shit and would simply be Medvedev with Abra as Putin-a puppet-which may make them more likely.

All in all-stick with Carlo or bring back The Special One

No one has achieved anything without being given the chance to first.

Most the the appointments we make have been on the short term, including Carlo Ancelotti, who was probably brought in as a Champions League winner to win the competition for us as soon as he could.

Using two of the long-term Premier League managers as casing points, Arsene Wenger wasn’t anybody until Arsenal took the chance on him and Alex Ferguson had a fair amount of experience in Scotland before United, but such an appointment today would be considered risky perhaps.

And then there’s Guardiola, who Barcelona took a chance on. Yes, he has got a great squad available, but he has won 8 out of 10 competitions he has competed for with them. Also, he has risen through the ranks at the club there, so very much part of the fabric.

So, why couldn’t a van Basten build something long lasting, especially if we could bring Guus Hiddink back as a sporting director?

Guss- good at training players with different abilities and bringing t o spotlight but i will go for Marco vanbasten or D.deschamps, this guyz are technically sound tactically fit and young as well.frank R is a good coach has eyes for good players but he’s not what chelsea need for a manager cause he’s easily influenced by his players.Carlo should go cause all this guyz mentioned here may not be as good as he is but have they’ve got what chelsea need in a manager.jose M,just not feasible.

  4. i think coach guss is best man for d chelsea job.bcos he as a technics and strategies to use to bring chelsea back on track.carlo aslo try very well but sometime, substitution always affect him
.i think guus is d right man 4 d job.

don’t go for names but coaches ,ancelloti is not supposed to be managing Chelsea, eight years in Milan with only one scuddeto and finished outside top 4 on numerous occasions.talking of champion league a believe that is won by luck because we have been favorite for a lot of times and won nothin.martin O’Neil is the perfect choice for Chelsea.

There is only one man for the job, bring back Jose.

  8. yohannes says:

ancholoti is a rubbish coach than any who have coached chelsea. So he should be sacked right after the end of the sean.and as a replacement deschmp is better

  9. mogily77 says:

How is that possible?? So shall we then say to forget the links of Kaka and Pato? Rubbish!

    • Anthony Williams says:

Not a question of is it possible, surely? Of course, it’s possible, but is it likely and if it does happen, who would you want to take over?

Mourinho was replaced by a relative nobody after winning two league titles, two league cups, an FA Cup and a Community Shield…so, sometimes the unexpected happens.

      • Josh says:

Good point on Van Basten, Anthony.

However I do think Ancelotti initially was brought in for the long term; it was just a summer ago where he was saying he would like to manage the club for the next 10-15 years-of course that might have all changed this year with the sacking of Ray, maybe Carlo wants out?

My worry with Van Basten is that I don’t think he has the ego to come in and stand up to Roman-which is why he wants him here. It is my opinion that he merely wants a puppet manager.

If Carlo is to leave, my opinion is that we need Abra to admit his mistake and allow Jose back. Mourinho won’t come back unless it is guaranteed that he has control over the squad, formations and signings- and that is probably the best thing for us.

        • Anthony Williams says:

I’m not sure I’d agree with you on the ego point. Van Basten wasn’t particularly phased by egos as national coach and famously had a feud with van Nistelrooy, who was just one of the big name ageing stars he phased out of the Holland setup.

          So he’s ballsy, I’d say.

But I’m just playing devil’s advocate here mainly. However, I think it could be a good shout IF what the media have been suggesting for months comes true and Ancelotti departs.

Hilarious. That is how many managers in how many years for the Chavs?
