Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti and club owner Roman Abramovich have already ‘agreed’ a parting of the ways in the summer, according to football agent Carrie Baird, who was speaking to Sports Illustrated.

If this was true, who would you choose as a replacement?

The name on many fans’ lips would be Jose Mourinho, and there has been plenty of talk of his return to Stamford Bridge, especially as his old enemy Frank Arnesen is leaving this summer for German outfit Hamburg.

Mourinho had a successful stint at Chelsea, with the back-to-back Premier League title success being a particular highlight, but some have questioned his longevity, attitude and ability to nurture young players. Bringing him back would also be an admission that Abramovich was wrong, so I can’t see this one happening.

Two of the other candidates mentioned are former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard and his countryman Marco van Basten. Both of them are currently out of work as Rijkaard was recently sacked from his last position at Galatasaray and van Basten has not worked in a managerial role for nearly two years.

Hypothetically speaking, if Ancelotti was to leave the club this summer, who would you like to see take the helm and why? Let me know your views in the comments section below.

Give the guy another season at least, getting bored of our rotation of managers, they cant all be not good enough, we have had the alot of top quality managers at Chelsea, maybe its time to stick with one. So none of the above for me, I know the special one was, but he never made great signings and thought the one nil and shut up shop games were not that exciting.

I agree with Mike (above) we have to give Carlo more time. Until recently he has not brought his own players. Addition of sanchez and schnider will completely change our squad. If Carlo decides to leave here are my choices

    1. Guus – no doubt he had an impact when he managed last time. in addition he is tactically good and speaks english. he will command great respect in the dressing room.

    2. Deschamps – another former chelski doing great in management would like him to bring desaily or poyet as his assistant

    3. Zola – thot he did well at westham without so much money he is chelsea thru and thru.

    Rijkaard (manager)
    Van Basten (assistant manager)
    Gullit (first team coach)
    Hiddink (techical director)

    Or just Good old Jose.

the only one true coach i want as a real chelseafc fan is Guss hiddink apart from him then chelsea should look elswhere because if the should choose morinho he is not good with young players except he wil learn to manage them.for Rijchard yes he is a good coach but not for chelseafc and the reason why i chose gus is that he is a great manager that teach players on how to adapt in any competition infact we need gus pls anywhere you are pls come back to chelseafc

Guus will be great, if hes willing to stay for a long time.
We need a technical director surely.
And we need a ‘Chelsea’ manager, someone who can really connect with the players. Deschamps would be perfect, he knows the club, has managed at the top level(unlike Zola, Wise, Di Matteo etc) and is actually a good manager.
But aside all that, I want Carlo to say. He has done well in his first 2 years and with more time he can make this team his team… then, we would enjoy him fully.
    UTC!

Hate doing this while Carlo is still here but….I would like to see a young man who has played for Chelsea given a go. Deschamps with Di Matteo, Poyet, Zola or Wilkins as their assistant. Hiddink would make a great short term manager and I just can’t see Mourinho returning just yet if ever. I’ve got fed up with changing the manager so often. The problem is Abramovich and we the fans to a certain extent want trophies every season. We need someone who is good enough to build a team to challenge at the very top. Building a team takes time so the person given the task needs to be given time.

Rubbish Carlo should be in for the long haul,he said it himself,he’ll would spend 20 years here if he could.Roman wanted his man & got his man so what has changed? This has become beyond embarrassing with our rotational policy.Would love Carlo to remain & be assigned a decent assistant manager whether is be zola,di matteo or vialli etc.Someone closely affiliated to the club along with Guus as the technical director ‘cos he’s too old to coach longer. All pipedreams though. As much as I would love the jose reunion I just see Carlo as the better suited for long term development.

  9. meto says:

i agree with mike ,, jimmy and natalie… see.. carlo is good as guss ,,,,, bringing guss will not change alot…. coz they are working as same system ,,, and rotation isnt good for players and thier stabilities… i want to give carlo one more season ,,, then lets see what will happen

‘If’ this story were to be true then Jose should be a natural shoe-in. If Jose ends up going to City or United we can kiss good bye to any major trophies for the foreseeable future. Jose is the best club Manager/Coach in World football today and Chelsea should always strive for THE VERY BEST! Without the ‘politics’ of Avram Grant and Frank Arnesen in the background Jose’s relationship with Roman is first class hence their continued close contact since the infamous split.
