Matteo Darmian has had a tough time of it at Manchester United – and Antonio Conte could be the man to rescue him from the clutches of Jose Mourinho.

Despite an impressive start to life in the Premier League last season, a post-Christmas slump eventually forced the Italian defender out of the first team – and he has never really regained his position in the side.

This season things have got even worse, having been dropped in favour of an out-of-position Antonio Valencia at right-back – meaning a move away appears likely.

Darmian was a favourite of Conte during his stint as Italy boss – and the defender is already well versed in Conte’s methods.
