Yilmaz-Drogba2It’s likely Chelsea will be looking for a reliable forward this summer and we’re being linked with different ones every day, today it’s Galatasaray’s Burak Yilmaz.

The 27-year-old has only been at his current club for one season after arriving from Trabzonspor last summer and reports suggest that he would cost over £20 million.

He comes highly recommended by his team-mate and former Blue Didier Drogba, claim The Metro, and the 24 league goals he scored over the season may have caught Chelsea’s attention.

When pressed on his future, Yilmaz was recently quoted:

“I’m really happy here.

“I have a long-term contract here. If an offer is put on the table then it’s the club’s decision which will matter, not mine.”

It doesn’t really sound like he’s a player keen to move on and this is a fairly standard response to such a question from a footballer.

I’m sceptical about this rumour and doubt there’s any real interest here with the only link between the player and the club being Jorge Mendes, who is the agent of the incoming Jose Mourinho as well as Yilmaz’s representative, and we all know how agents like to tout their client’s names around in order to boost their profile. It’s possible that Mendes may even be angling for an improved contract for Yilmaz after the player’s impressive season.

I do believe a forward will be coming in but doubt the Blues will invest so much in an unknown entity, his fee would like be around the same as Mario Gomez who is the same age and has a much more impressive record. But you never know, if Chelsea don’t manage to sign a Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani then they may opt for someone like Yilmaz, I just can’t see Galatasaray and the Blues agreeing on the player’s valuation though.
