Torres9Masked man Fernando Torres scored a brace as Chelsea beat Russian outfit Rubin Kazan 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the Europa League quarter-final first leg. The win puts the Blues in the driving seat as they hope to progress to the next round of the competition but Kazan will hope that they can use their away goal to their advantage when they take the tie to Moscow.

Torres bundled the ball home in the 16th minute following a great assist from David Luiz before Victor Moses doubled the advantage in the 31st.

Rubin Kazan received a lifeline Bibras Natcho scored from the spot after John Terry was judged to have handled the ball in the penalty area before half-time, but Torres popped up again to restore the two-goal lead in the 70th minute with a header.
