Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien could be set for a move to Turkish club Fenerbache after they expressed an interest in him, according to recent reports.

The 29-year-old hasn’t featured for Roberto Di Matteo’s side in the early stages of the season and hasn’t managed to regained the form he had for us before a serious of serious injuries over the years, so he may be deemed surplus to requirements and allowed to move on.

He’s a popular player amongst the Chelsea support and would prefer to stay at the club but putting sentiment aside, selling him would be the right thing to do. He’s already behind John Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard, Raul Meireles and perhaps even Oriol Romeu in the pecking order. Essien has not been the same player for a number of years now and there’s always the ‘one more year’ argument, but it’s been years and he’s not looked himself for some time. I believe it’s time to sell him, unfortunately.

Do you think it’s time to sell Essien?

He’s not the only player who may make a late move before the close of the window as Di Matteo will look to make some room in his squad, as both Yossi Benayoun and Florent Malouda don’t seem to be part of his plans either. There’s some interest in Benayoun and I’m sure he’ll eventually leave as he seems to want to go and play. Malouda, on the other hand, is a worry as I’m sure he’d be content to sit on his contract until it expires.

Are there any other players that you think could be set for the exit door, is there anyone who should be and do you see us making any late moves before the transfer window closes? Have your say in the comments section below

Yeah I think its the right move for all three players. Chelsea needs some young fresh players in our camp now. With the likes of Oscar, Hazard and Marin being introduced this summer, I personally think are on the right road to maintain our current status.
What We could do is try to loan another striker incase Torres get injured, with Lukaku being out on loan. I would love if Cavani would accept our offer or we could just go after Muller or Higuain 🙂

essien should not go anywhere. He should stay and fight back for his position. mikel should be shown the way out instead. If RDM think essien is bad he should fix Him[essien is] in one of our games for the supporters to also witness that. essien; we love you.RDM will regrets if you there leave us.

Nana,so u opine that Mikel should go? Oh no,u missed it,the coach knows the imperative role Mikel holds on the pitch and thats why he’s letting him sure have his play.
Mikel does secret things on the field,it is only the secret viewer that can see.
Betterstill,Essien,Yosi and Malouda should be released so that they can have playing time also.

Alas, i might b late dropping d comment. But i tink its gud if we let essien, malouda alone leave, yossi is an outstanding player dat can change ball wen it is hard 4 chelsea to score. Essien is our player but we will miss him. Bye bro

pls RDM let allow essien to fight for his jersey one more season,he has tried alot for chelsea.Malouda n benayoun shuld leave & i hope to see new signing(striker) b4 friday, hopefully FELLAINI OR DZEKO will be a good one instead of HULK,CAVANI!

  7. Gary says:

Yes this will be good for Essien and Chelsea. He won’t get much playing time at Chelsea, and Chelsea will want to use their new recruits with freedom. Mikel and Lampard will hold defensive midfield while Oscar, Hazard, Mata go forward.

  8. Solomon says:

RDM is a loser, mikel is a back-pass player. How can u choose mikel over essien? Wake up RDM!!!?

  9. cabel says:

Some people just lack basic knowledge in football, Chelsea has about 5 players that can do what Essien does but how many Chelsea players have the tactical discipline to play the deep-lying midfield role Mikel occupies? Essien is a spent force, I say we let him go.
