Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has returned to training following a hamstring injury and should be available for selection soon, which will increase Andre Villas-Boas’ midfield options as he has been without both Ramires and Frank Lampard of late.

The 24-year-old Nigerian has been out for several weeks and has not played for the Blues since their 1-1 draw against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in December.

There’s also a chance Lampard could make his return from injury at the weekend against Everton at Goodison Park. The England midfielder has missed the last three games after suffering with calf strain but remains one of Chelsea’s top scorers this season and his comeback could be timely as the team has struggled to find the net at times this season.

The news of their return will be something of a boost for Villas-Boas who almost has a full compliment to choose from as only Ramires and John Terry are on the injury list.
