After seeing off Premier League leaders Manchester City on Monday night the Blues will travel to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan in tomorrow’s evening kick-off.

David Luiz will be available for selection as he has returned from his one match suspension, which makes Michael Essien the only absentee as he isn’t due to be back in action until mid-January.

The team I’d play tomorrow:

P. Cech

B. Ivanovic – D. Luiz – J. Terry – A. Cole

Ramires – O. Romeu – R. Meireles

D. Sturridge – D. Drogba – J. Mata

We ought to stick to our settled XI, in my opinion, despite the fact that the festive period is a busy one in football and many worry that fatigue may become an issue. But these lads are professional athletes, the conditions are the same for everyone else and they’ll likely take less training sessions to save on energy because of the congested fixture list in any case.

I think the team more or less picks itself and we can’t afford to take chances on this one even though we’ll have one eye on Thursday night’s game against Tottenham.

Frank Lampard may not know why he’s not starting regularly at the moment, but he’s probably the only one as Ramires, Oriol Romeu and Raul Meireles currently represent our best midfield unit, so I think he may have to get used to life on the bench for the time being.

Another player who has had to be content with life on the sidelines is Fernando Torres, who should get another chance when Didier Drogba leaves to play in the African Cup of Nations but will probably have to sit tight until then as he seeks to resurrect his form of old.

Who would be in your Chelsea XI for the game against Wigan? – Have your say in the comments section below

Think Torres, Lamps and Bosingwa should start as I don’t see Wigan offering too much and it’d be a great chance for Torres to try and bag a few to kickstart his season. Lamps ever reliable, and Bosingwa to give us a bit of attacking threat and push players like Moses back. Hopefully Josh can get a decent 30 mins too.

yes, playing torres and lamps should but for me mr. bosingwa is just one defensive disaster.. what we really need is a fast paced-creative winger.. namely EDEN HAZARD

    P. Cech

    B. Bosingwa – D. Luiz – J. Terry – A. Cole

    Ramires – O. Romeu – J. Mata

    D. Sturridge – D. Drogba – F. Torres

That would be my lineup, I strongly disagree that Mata should be playing a winger he is more of a play-maker and should be in the midfield and Torres has shown some serious promise before he got red carded when he played a few games in a row problem is that he is on the bench.

I would rest Ramires, Ivanovic, Drogba and Mata before the trip to Tottenham, so my starting line-up would be : Cech – Bosingwa Luiz Terry Cole – Meireles Mikel Lampard – Sturridge Torres Malouda.

And I’m dreaming about this starting line-up :
    Cech
    Ivanovic. Luiz. JT. Cole
    Ramires. Meireles
    Mata
    Sturridge. Torres. Droggy

    Cech
    Ivanovic—Luiz—Terry—Cole
    Ramires—–Romeu—–Merieles
    Sturridge—–Drogba——Mata

I’d play Torres in all of the game in January that games are winnable so I expect him to score there. Torres should be left out on the bench till Drogba goes to African Cup. So drogba plays all the games from now till January and Torres plays all the games in Drogba’s absence.

  6. Daniel says:

    Cech
    Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole

    Romeu
    Ramires Lampard
    Sturridge Mata
    Torres

I dont know why everyone is so excited with Drogba becuase for me the chances have just been there for him, he has not created anything with the magic we know he had 2 years ago, he looks slow on the ball, Torres even though being criticized had been playing wonderfully because even though he might have not scored much he was creating plays with his assists and passes. Torres should get the start

    Cech
    Ivanovic Terry Luiz A.cole
    Romeu
    Ramires Mata
    sturridge
    Torres Drogba

  8. Cech
    Ivanovic Luiz Terry A.cole
    Ramires Romeu Lampard
    Sturidge Torres Mata

For me I think torres and lampard deserve a starting line also McEchran should be introduced.

    Cech
    Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole

    Ramires Romeu Lampard
    Sturridge Mata
    Torres

i think we need to make use of Torres so he can get back to his old side of play. Torres has shown some serious promise when he play some game last time is a creative person that create change and he can hold ball and can make a differential roll ball.. so i think AVB should give him a better chance to show his ability on ball

    Ivanovic Terry Luiz A.Cole

    Ramires Romeu Lampard

    Sturridge Drogba Mata
