Chelsea

Petr Cech – 4

It was Cech’s mistake that gifted Wigan’s Jodi Gomez an equaliser and the Czech will be made the scapegoat for this one, but shouldn’t be made a scapegoat for what was a poor team display.

Jose Bosingwa – 5

The Portuguese fullback has always been better going forward than he is at defending and often struggled against a pacey Victor Moses.

Branislav Ivanovic – 6

Was generally solid in defence and did well to help out Bosingwa when he was struggling, but defended poorly for the goal and almost gave a goal away prior to that with a suicidal back pass to Cech.

John Terry – 6.5

The England captain was commanding in the air as always and his lack of pace isn’t exposed as much now that Chelsea are defending a little deeper. Was one of those at fault for the goal.

Ashley Cole – 6.5

Helped provide Chelsea’s only moment of magic during the whole match when he found Daniel Sturridge for the goal. Defended well, maybe didn’t get forward enough.

Oriol Romeu (Off 45th min) – 6

Does the simple things really well and was only taken off at half-time for tactical reasons as Andre Villas-Boas wanted to bolster the attack. I don’t think he should have been the midfielder to make way when we moved Juan Mata into the middle.

Frank Lampard – 3

He doesn’t know why he’s not in the starting lineup every week but if he watches this performance back he’d know why. Completely anonymous from start to finish and wasn’t even on the pitch when we scored our goal.

Raul Meireles – 6

Had a so-so game in the middle of the park as he gave the ball away too frequently in the first half, but improved as the game went on.

Daniel Sturridge (Off 80th min) – 7

The young Englishman has been a revelation for Chelsea this season and took his ninth goal of the season in style. If only we could have got him into the game more often when we were in opposing territory.

Didier Drogba – 3

He has put in some good performances recently but this game was obviously not big enough for Drogba, who looked completely disinterested and wasn’t up for it at all. As anonymous as Lampard.

Juan Mata (Off 66th) – 5

Didn’t do enough, didn’t see enough of him. On the occasions he did have the ball it was in too deep of a position.

Substitutes:

Salomon Kalou (On 45th min) – 4

Brought on to boost our attacking options, didn’t work out as hoped.

John Obi Mikel (On 66th min) – 6

Came on and was economic with the ball, nothing special but tidy.

Florent Malouda (On 80th min) – 5

Didn’t do much, but didn’t have much time to impress in any case.

    Spot on!

Villa boas should make the right changes if he wants his job to be secured. Chelsea also needs fresh faces in the team and the likes of mikel, malouda, drogba, ferrera, bosingwa, lampard and kalou who do not have interest for the team again should all be offload. Avb can’t you see. Let people say what they like because the truth hurts. Please if you want to succeed in chelsea, take wise decisions on lampard and drogba and do not use their past names. If you really want the best midfielder in chelsea now comparing him to lampard then it is josh machecran. My last comment is that chelsea do not need the players mentioned above especially lampard in our games anymore. If you try it, your job is limited in chelsea.

Felix i agree with every thing you say .chelsea wins games when lampard is not playing he was once a great player but not any more .missed ramires yesterday.Avb made many a mistake yesterday why not throw on fernando instead of the waster malouda.Going nowhere this season and im afraid it will be white hart pain this thursday.true blue.

  3. Romeu says:

People often criticise Mikel for slowing our play down, but I’ve never seen anyone slow us down as much as Lampard does at the moment.

I love the guy, he’s a legend and will always remember the best of him, but my word he is woeful these days.

Chelsea rating are correct as is shows on the web.yesterday game i`ll give even AVB-3 .because now he seems to go to the Media trap.players like malouda, kalou,Mikel and Bosingwa.should not play and lampard should play only one half.To be honest whenever i see Bosingwa play i always start to be nerves with defence and whenever i see malouda come in i know we can`t score more he is so selfish for him better to loose the ball then to give a pass to a stiker unless if that is Drogba.so AVB yesterday took a foto copy of Mancini.

  5. BaManu says:

avb is very stupid let him go back to Porto.Too much concerntrating on the media and not the team.Cant he see the need for new creative players.you cant teach old dogs new tricks.pliz avb don’t make us regret hiring yu as our manger.

Don’t think that’s the fault of AVB. When the old farts go and he has his own squad, then he can be judged.

  6. ejisco madu says:

whatever happend this season,i pray we make best 4..with the players we have now that will be ok..bu 4rm next season, these players should give us a breathing space, malouda, drogba, mikel and fereira. Kaluo and lampard should be ready 4 bench..becos kaluo from the bench can change a game and age is still at his side.lampard just to respect him as chelsea lagend that all.stourage should stop being selfish..then we can buy creative players and dribblers to help mata and activate torres.

  7. MataOfFact says:

Not at all sure why people think this is all AVB’s fault…short memories?

We’ll always have these problems until we clear out the old rubbish.
