Chelsea are interested in signing Parma’s talented youngster Sebastian Giovinco, according to the player’s agent. The 24 year-old Italian is currently playing for Parma but is co-owned by his former club Juventus.

Parma purchased 50% of his contract for €3 million from the Italian giants in the summer and the midfielder has also been linked with a permanent return to Juventus next summer.

But according to Giovinco’s agent, Andrea D’Amico, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a keen admirer of the player nicknamed ‘the atomic ant’ and he refused to rule out a possible move to Chelsea in the future.

“It’s no mystery that Roman Abramovich likes Giovinco,” D’Amico told Sportal.it. “The Chelsea owner was struck by Giovinco’s performances when he played against them for Juventus [during the 2008-09 Champions League campaign].

“Also, Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas loves the player’s technical qualities, and this means he is someone who understands [football].

“Chelsea would be a nice club [for Giovinco to join], but at the moment there is nothing concrete. It all depends on Parma. They will decide. Plus, we would have to wait for an offer.”

Any potential deal for Giovinco however, would be very complicated for Chelsea. As the player is co-owned by two clubs, Chelsea would have to negotiate two separate transfer fees with both Juventus and Parma and they would need to have them both accepted in order to fully own the player.
