Much hype has been written about Mata’s cameo appearance on Saturday. He is a talent and certainly welcome at Stamford Bridge but is not a messiah and cannot fix Chelsea’s problems on his own.

Although Chelsea are in desperate need of a midfield playmaker this kind of player rarely comes along. Try naming ONE in the Premiership of the stature and talents of Xavi or Iniesta. United, City, Arsenal nor Chelsea possess one.

It is no coincidence that Barca are now on a different level to other top chasing European clubs. Indeed Barcelona have a youngster (Thiago Alcântara) who cannot force his way into their team and is now further down the pecking order due to the arrival there of Fabregas. Roman Abramovich should have been tempting Barcelona, who themselves have a desperate need for a quality left-back with Ashley Cole and money to buy their up and coming youngster. Chelsea already have readymade replacements for Cole in BOTH Pat Van Aanholt AND the excellent Ryan Bertrand.

AVB has been quietly recruiting some much needed young talents recently and a player of the quality and undoubted talent of Thiago Alcântara could prove to be a master stroke. The 20 year old Italian born magician was bought up in Spain and is the son of a former Brazilian World cup winner. In a few seasons time his price will be up there with the Messi’s, Iniesta’s Xavi’s etc.

Let us hope that Juan Mata’s appearance on Saturday is going to prove to be some kind of pointer of things to come. As for the future I am desperately hoping that at least some of Roman Abramovich’s advisors are pointing him in the direction of Thiago Alcântara rather than the unobtainable Modric (due to Levy) or the very average Moutinho at Porto.

Great player. Two things one he played and scored for Barca last night in their opening La Liga game, He also had 2 assists, to emphasise his quality. But after the summer under 21 tournament he signed a new deal with barca and they have inserted an 85 million buy out, which is probably a bit rich even for Roman.

Another senseless waste of space(article). What do you know about football?

Obviously so much more than you if you do not understand the article! And please have the decency to have at least a ‘name’ before you publish your purile opinions hiding behind your computer. Maybe mummy wouldn’t like to know you are on grown up sites on the internet?

Moutinho is not average he’s a fantastic player.

    You know nothing about football.

Thiago would be a good signing though, but would be expensive since he just signed a new contract.

Hmm and Henry you take time read an article written by Allan then say he knows nothing about football! Who knows everything about football? Yeah geniuses no one! Learn to criticise positively! Dummies!!

Chelsea actually tracked Thiago at the U21 Championship this sommer, and Thiago said he could be intrested if he felt his first team chances at Barcelone would be limited. But there er two problems with this article. First of all, Barcelona gave him a bumper new deal with i buyout clause of €90 million when he returned fro U21. The second thing is that Thiago have started almost every game for Barcelona since signing a new contract. Including the La Liga opener against Villarreal on monday.

I feel Thiago Alcântara will be the “next big thing”. Sadly, i dont think it will be in our beautiful Royal blue shirt.

Thiago is good bt i’ll not support giving up ashley 4 him.we can go 4 other players lik gotze, ganso.these are young, talented & creative midfielders available @ lesser prices dt can improve in any team.lamp said mata can be robben & duff in chelsea which gives us d need 4 1 more winger in d likes of marin, hazard, neymar.Blues, everything is dull right now,are we nt buying any player again dis summer,i bet we’ll be purnish 4 dt lik arsenal.blues 4 life

  7. welsh says:

he will be a good signing only if he will play regularly.

  8. Uche raymond awka says:

We dont need him go for modric

  9. Ryan says:

Moutinho is average? being called the portuguse Xavi isnt that simple dude……do some research idiot….

  10. bobby says:

Joao Moutinho dose too much running on the ball, very good player but we dont need another box2box type player and it think thats what we’d get in him, hamsick or ganso are exactly what we need in my opinion.
