Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun is attracting interest from Newcastle United, according to the Mirror.

The former Liverpool star has failed to make an impact at Chelsea since signing last summer with injury problems the main reason for the Israeli’s lack of game time.

With Chelsea still holding out hope of a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Modric, Benayoun’s time at Stamford Bridge could be limited. This has alerted Newcastle boss Alan Pardew who is desperate to cover the loss of Kevin Nolan and the potential sale of Joey Barton.

Benayoun has also been linked in with a deal that could see Modric join Chelsea.
