A summer of spending at Stamford Bridge has seen Andres Villas-Boas, or AVB, re-juggle the Chelsea squad and injected some youth into the team with the names of Thibaut Courtois from Racing Genk, Oriol Romeu from Barcelona and not-to-mention the Spanish starlet, Juan Mata for £23.5m from Valencia but the name Romelu Lukaku should soon become a household name after the striker recently signed from Anderlecht for a reported £20m.

The 6 ft. 3 eighteen-year-old, Belgian was signed up for his local club, Rupel Boom when he was five and within a few years he was given a youth contract at the Belgian Pro League team Lierse SK. Their senior team was relegated from the Pro League in 2006 but he had impressed in the Belgian Youth League, where he scored 121 goals in 68 games. This earned him a contract at Anderlecht along with twelve other Lierse youth players who were also signed up.

At Anderlecht he continued to shine as a youth player and was seen as a red hot prospect for the future after scoring 131 goals in 93 games. He eventually earned his first senior career call-up for Anderlecht and became a regular first-teamer and scored 41 goals in 98 appearances in all competitions for the “Purple & Whites”.

Lukaku won his first cap on 24 February 2010 against Croatia and on 17 November 2010 he scored his first goals when he netted twice against Russia at Tsentralnyi Profsoyuz Stadion. To this day he has 9 caps but has not added to the two international goals.

In 2009 a Belgian television channel aired a documentary called De School Van Lukaku (Lukaku’s School). He was shown going on a school trip to Stanford Bridge with his class-mates and while there he ironically said “What a stadium. If one day in my life I will cry, it will be the day I play here. I love Chelsea.”

His father, Roger, played for Zaire at the African Cup of Nations and his brother, Jordan, is currently in the Anderlecht youth system.

We’re not signing van der Wiel. He said he’s on a visit to London and talksport took that to mean he’s signing for Chelsea, utter rubbish. Club went cold on him months ago.

Bosingwa is a good right back, written off unfairly after one bad season after returning from a serious injury.

  6. Cfc 2 act fast 2 add one or 2 players be 4 deadline chelsea blues 4life.
