Sergio Aguero’s agent has said that his client’s future will be decided within the next week as the forward is set to leave Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea have long been linked with the forward, but a deal fell through in 2009 and if Andre Villas-Boas is tempted to bring the striker to Stamford Bridge he will have to compete with a number of big spending clubs to do so, namely Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester City, with the latter being the current favourites to sign Aguero as they will be looking to replace the want-away Carlos Tevez.

Hernan Reguara, the player’s agent, told Ole:

“He wanted the Copa America to end to sit down and talk. During this week everything will be settled.

“Aguero has made a lot of important things for Atletico. He renewed his contract when he was one year away from becoming a free agent, he has played over 200 matches, he spent two years without vacations.

“He is thankful to the fans and to the club’s board. We have been talking about this for two months.

“I talk to the club’s chiefs on a daily basis, and if it was hard for them to accept at the beginning, they have agreed it and there are no problems.

“In seven days the subject will be closed, but this has nothing to do with money. He wants his career to grow.”

At the moment, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will secure Aguero’s services or even if they go for him at all. Villas-Boas already has Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge at his disposal, so would have to sell one-or-two to make room for the player and Aguero may be the best forward available at the moment, as Neymar is set to stay at Santos.

The British press seem to believe Manchester City are in the driving seat for the player at the moment, but I’m sure Tevez has told his compatriot all about how wonderful Manchester is, right? But in all seriousness, would you like to see Chelsea splash out on the Atletico star?

Aguero scored 27 goals for Atletico Madrid last season and made half a dozen assists, could he provide the perfect foil for Torres?

aguero has been my favourite player for some time now so im praying that we sign him ! im sure if we place an acceptable bid he would come to us rather than city or juvy and with athletico not wanting to sell to real there realy isnt much competition as aguero want champions league football in spain or england , doesnt leave many clubs to choose from , please roman get aguero !!!

  3. I’ve no doubt he’s coming to Chelsea but remember there’s a group of players whose interests doesn’t benefit the team en they are telling us they are fit en that we don’t need to buy for they are capable of winning any trophy. Sell, sell ,sell and sell AVB coz these guys are fooling yu. Some of them don’t even think of playing in another world cup en there4 are ready to relax en simply eat our mönies. I now beliv that it is Chelsea players who have been sacking our beloved managers. Our players love status quo en even goes to witches but Gods power is ever great.

Aguero has already stated that he does not want to play in Serie A only la Liga or the Premiership. That discounts Juve. As Athletico will not want to sell him to Real Madrid and Barca are basically potless with their £35m earmarked for fabrigas that leaves only City, possibly United and Chelsea. ‘If’ AVB doesn’t move heaven and earth to get this guy and sticks with Anelka, Kalou and Malouda for next term he will go down in my estimation immediately. I would also predict that he will go the same way as Carlo as those players mentioned will let him down as they let Carlo down last term. Lets bring in Aguero, do a deal with Spuds to include Sturridge for Moderic, bring in Turan and sell Malouda and Kalou and bring in Lukaku for the future and understudy to Drogs. Fellaini at Everton would also be a better bet than Mikel and better long term deal than Parker as cover for Essien.

I don’t think we should let him go to City. There’s been a lot of talk from the likes of Lampard, Kalou, Malouda and Anelka about how ‘strong’ Chelsea are, but the sides that have been stronger than us are looking to improve and surely it would be an error to ignore what Manchester City are doing.

Modric is definitely a great option. Haven’t seen enough of Turan to comment on him and although Fellaini is a good player, I don’t think Mikel is a problem, I’m a fan.
