We all knew it was imminent after the news over the past few days, but Chelsea Football Club have officially announced that ex-Porto boss Andres Villas-Boas is the new manager at Stamford Bridge.

The club released a statement on their official website, which read:

“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce that Andre Villas-Boas will be the club’s new manager.

“He has signed a three-year contract and will start work immediately.

“Andre was the outstanding candidate for the job. He is one of the most talented young managers in football today and has already achieved much in a relatively short space of time.

“His ambition, drive and determination matches that of Chelsea and we are confident Andre’s leadership of the team will result in greater successes in major domestic and European competitions.

“Andre will bring his coaching experience back to a club he is already very familiar with, having previously worked here for three years. He has always been highly regarded at Chelsea and everyone here looks forward to welcoming him back and working with him.”

It’s been a bit of a wait since Carlo Ancelotti was sacked, so many will be pleased to see a new manager as the club is now in a much better place to prepare for the coming season and I’m glad to see that we opted for brave appointment by bringing in an upcoming manager, who has fresh ideas, a good knowledge of the game, a previous affinity with the club and he’ll will get to work immedietly.

There’s also plenty of rumours going about over the likes of Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho following him to Stamford Bridge, both have release clauses priced at around £26.5m. Hulk has also been linked to Chelsea, but has a minimum fee release clause worth a whopping €100m, which is roughly just under £90m.

What are your thoughts on our new manager, is this the mark of a new era at Chelsea football club?

Boas, you are well welcome here and we wish you a better season of trophies. we need to go in for Falcao and Moutinho in order to forget about all the rest we been searching for, we’ve already lost sanchez and neymar to other clubs.
    better luck

from what i have seen of porto he is simular coaching system to that of barca’s possession mainly and knock it about.we donot need moutinho he is like ramires and essien(a workhorse) or even fletcher,he hasent any perticulary good passing like modric, snijder or parstone(what we need more than anything) we badly need 2 winger’s.the sanchez deal is not done he is still avalable, besides he is not the only winger there is still mata who is the same age, neymar has not gone to madrid they seem more likley to go for modest singing’s rather than £40m,i belive chelsea will splash the cash this year, also please no falcao either he cant lay with torres i think sturrige could play with him tough.
