On Sunday the Daily Star compiled a list of what they claimed to be Andre Villas-Boas’ top targets next season as he aims to revamp his Chelsea side and make his mark at Stamford Bridge.

At the time of writing none of the players listed below have moved to any other clubs, but a few of them are heavily linked with moves that they are expected to complete in the near future and may have done so by the time this is published.

According to the Daily Star, we’re aiming to sign:

Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid):

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time now, but talks allegedly broke down in 2009 as the club were unwilling to meet his wages demands (and they are obscene). I doubt anything has changed and he’s reportedly off to Juventus last I heard. Bullshit rumour, but refuses to die.

Fabio Coentrao (Benfica):

One of the most highly-rated left backs in Europe, but unless the rumours linking Ashley Cole to Real Madrid have any weight in them, I reckon Coentrao will end up at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Falcao (Porto):

The Colombian enjoyed a successful season under the tenure of Andre Villas-Boas at Porto last season and the club are expected to meet his £26.5m buyout, if they do, it’ll be interesting to see how he fits into the side and if that will have a bearing on the likes of Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba.

Luka Modric (Tottenham):

Already have had a bid turned down for the player, who said that he would favour a move to Chelsea. However, there are rumours that we have gone cold on him and the likes of Manchester United may take advantage of this, especially as he is highly rated by Sir Alex Ferguson and United have already acted fast with their signings so far this summer.

Joao Moutinho (Porto):

Villas-Boas signed the midfielder for Porto last year and many believe he may want to bring the Portuguese international to Stamford Bridge this summer, but his minimum fee release is quite a bit higher than Falcao’s at a reported £36m, and I can’t see us paying that, so if we do decide to go for him then negotiations may be a little tougher than they would be for Falcao.

HULK (Porto):

Out of Porto’s current playing staff, many argue that Hulk is the sort of player that Chelsea are in need of most as he can be used as a forward or a winger, which is an area where the Blues are a little weak in. He’d likely come at a high price as his minimum fee release clause is not far under £90m.

Rolando (Porto):

The Star describe 19-year-old Rolando as the bedrock of Porto’s defence, who has been linked with both Juventus and Roma. Not sure we really need another defender, unless one of the current ones leave. Rolando is rated at around £18m.

Neymar (Santos):

This guy seems to be driving everybody mental and I reckon he’ll either stay in Santos or will opt for a move to Real Madrid, as I cannot see us paying the £40/45m for the player. But he is a potential world star and there are many that would love to see us sign him and the links to him remain.

What changes would you like to see Villas-Boas make at Chelsea this summer and which players do you think we should sign?

in accordance to what was posted in ff by two liverpool fans, what chelsea is doing is not good, they should make way for our young players like mch jose sturridge, those players are good in their position in our league(EPl) i mean the toughest league. Why should cfc search fos what they have already gotten, those players with big names started as young players before they make there names famour BECAUSE they where given the OPPORTUNITY.
For instance, it possible for neymar to impress in brazil league but the question is ‘is he going to deliver the same in epl? But sturridge has already prooved himself’5goals in just 8games’ likewise bruma and jose mch

Falcao is an opportunist striker like Drogba and Torres. He needs to be fed good passes to score. It only makes sense to sign Falcao if one of our main strikers is leaving. Hulk is a wing-striker who cannot get into the Brazilian team because Neymar is there. So Neymar is the obvious choice if you want the best wing-striker. Modric is a brilliant a playmaker, and Chelsea must go all out to get him. But Chelsea cannot rely on Modric alone. Creative, defence-breaking strikers like Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar, are essential.

Chelsea like mention player at d end they wil nt buy d player.we need a creative midfida, two winger and a striker.
    Out:Drogba,zickov, Bosingwa,ferreira, anelka and kalou.

  4. Kingpin says:

What Chelsea need now is a creative midfielder in the likes of Modric,a fast and skilful winger in the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Radamel Falcao who can both open the space for Fernando torres to start demolishing the opponent defence with ample of goals so the champions and premier league is ours come next season…

UP BLUES!!!!!!! Pls Sanchez is very crucial to CFC campaign this season

A lot of Views from Desperate Fans, bet AVB would be dangling his head in the Sky over whom to Sell and Buy.

To be candid, i dont think we need Falcao, Lukaku at 18 is a more ideal Striker not for this season but the future.

Modric for me should be our top target, just try and squeeze a deal with spurs, this guy can bring some spark in our midfield.

Sanchex and Turan arda are nice replacements for Anelka and Malouda respectively, both might cost a total of 43m plus Drogba in the latter deal.

Finally, Lure In 15m Van der wiel and Sell Bosingwa and Paulo

IN – Lukaku, Modric, Sanchez, Arda, Van der wiel

OUT – Drogba, Anelka, Malouda, Bosingwa, Paulo

N/B : Lampard, Terry, Essien and A.cole shouldnt be guaranteed an everyday spot, Bertrand, Josh, Alex, Zhirkov, Kakuta and Sturridge would all have a part to play.

My squad will be; cech, Luiz, Terry, A.cole, Ivanovich, Essien, Ramires, Modric, Hulk, Malouda, Falcou.

With this line up, we can win any game

    • DJ SAV says:

Sorry Isaac i agree with most of your line up apart from two. Malouda and Ashley Cole, i hope Chelsea fans dont hate me for saying his name. After reading whts written in the press, not just the back sheet tabloids but als at the front and in the centre. It seems he wants to start a new life in Spain and the teams he wants to play for are either Real Madrid or Barcelona. I remember leading up to signing him from Arsenal, he stated the same things and in the end he signed for us in what controvercial standards. So if wants to leave and start this new life in Spain i think we should sell him and get a good price for him. We want players who will play for us and wear our blues shirt with pride. Fabio Coentrao would be a great replacement if we cant get him we have Ryan Bertran, or VAH. who could do the job. On other signings we cleary need to out and out wingers on both flanks. Left Neymar or De Byrne. Right either Sanches, or Hulk. Midfield we dont need anyone as we have Piazon coming in, plus Mcheran Lamps, Essian and maybe Alcetraz. We should sell Malouda, Kalou, Beneayum, Mikel, Bosingwa, Ferraire, and Drogba. Again because he is 33 and he will be out of contract next Summer. Besides If sign Falcou, or Lakuka, or even sturridge who can all replace him. Deffiently need a good backup keeper for Cech. I heard we are liked to the Genk stopper cant remember his name. Please tell me who this any Chelsea fan.!!

i think Abramovich should use his power to sign the young Brazilian this summer because if he moves to a different team,he will not be ready to leave and if he should, then he price will be higher than what they are bidding now.he is the new best player to come .and he is going to shine at Chelsea,so go in for him.

  9. Tajelawi Odunayo says:

Chelsea need quality winger like sanchex, bale, lennon, turin 2 break any defence nd a good attacking midfielder like modric, pastore, mata. Blues is d colour.get dis players i trust in AVB.
