According to reports in Italy, Serie A champions AC Milan have made a formal enquiry about Chelsea’s Ivorian forward Didier Drogba, who has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge despite Ron Gourlay saying he wasn’t going anywhere.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport believe that Milan would like to bring in Drogba to replace Antonio Cassano, who is likely to leave the San Siro this summer, with Fiorentina and Napoli being mentioned as possible destinations for the 28-year-old forward.

Drogba’s future remains a little unclear and there has been a lot of debate surrounding the player about whether it is time for him to move on or not.

He may have already been unsettled by the arrival of Fernando Torres in the winter and after spending £50m on him, it’s likely that the Spaniard is set to be the main man at Chelsea next season, especially as the club and manager-in-waiting Andre Villas-Boas have been known to favour formations which plays with just one striker.

Also, Romelu Lukaku is expected to sign for Chelsea this summer and now Radamel Falcao, who enjoyed a successful working relationship with Villas-Boas at Porto, is being linked with a move to west London. If one or both arrived and someone like Daniel Sturridge is to get his chance then it does put the futures of players like Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou in doubt.

Milan believe they can coax Drogba into a move to Italy promising a better chance of first-team football and the chance to continue playing in the Champions League, but they are not the only club interested in the 33-year-old as Galatasaray and Malaga also have a reported interest in the player.

I think Chelsea should cash in on Drogba,he’s over aged for Chelsea squad. Lets give the likes of Daniel Sturrige a chance instead of paying so much for Lukaku. And Facao instead of Neymar, because Facao is more experience and energitic than Neymar. Possibly Westly Sniegder or Modric. And Sanchez

  2. Hafeez says:

Lets sell him now before his market value diminishes.

Cash in on a player who was one of the best players at the end of the season. Remember his assists? Remember his solo goal against Man United when everyone else had gone missing?
