There have been a few rumours doing the rounds about Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola returning to home to Stamford Bridge to take up a coaching role, which would be great for players, staff and fans alike, but the Blues also need to find the ‘next Zola’ to get them firing on the pitch, according to the Evening Standard.

Over the past few seasons Chelsea have lacked a player like a Zola, who can provide some spark and creative individual flair, some say we have lacked this sort of player since Arjen Robben departed for Real Madrid.

So, who is in the running to be the Blues’ exciting playmaker to wow the Stamford Bridge faithful?

The Evening Standard has mooted Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan), Luka Modric (Tottenham) and Christian Eriksen (Ajax).

But 26-year-old Sneijder is also a target of Manchester United and it’s thought he’d prefer a move to Old Trafford should he leave Inter and I doubt Tottenham would want to sell one of their prized assets to London rival. As for Eriksen, he’s a player that has slipped Chelsea’s net once before and his father has openly criticised the Blues’ youth policy, so some may argue that one is a non-starter.

Alexis Sanchez (Udinese) and Eden Hazard (Lille) were also mentioned as targets, and I believe they are a lot more realistic than those above.

Kaka’s mother has claimed on her Twitter account that they will be moving to London in August, especially as the signing of Nuri Sahin at Real Madrid could push the Brazilian out of the Santiago Bernabeu and it’s believed that Chelsea is his most likely destination.

I think either Alan Dzagoev of CSKA Moscow or Miralem Pjanic could be a decent shout, and at 20 and 21 respectively, they have a lot of years in them and could prove to be a worthwhile investment in the long-term.

Who could be Chelsea’s ‘next Zola’?

    Alexis Sanchez.

  2. jimmy says:

Sanchez and hazard are very good wingers and they can also play centrally. Willian of donetsk is another one pastore of parlemo or marin.

1st choice from what I’ve seen would be Sanchez, haven’t seen much of Hazard be heard he’s great and the little of Dzagoev who is suggested to be a Chelsea fan.
Def some good names in there.
The next question can be who could be Chelsea’s ‘next Makelele’

  4. JT says:

should be Neymar. But I’d like to see us also bring in Sanchez or Hazard, maybe Sanchez but Hazard might be better value

  5. JT says:

and forget Sneijder, I’d like to see McEachran take an important role in midfield next season, he’s got the creativity we need and he’s one of ours

We don’t need no one we have McEachran! we just need left and right wingers, Right back and a holding mifielder. My dream line up next season.
    Begovic
    VDW—Alex—Phil Jones—Van Aanholt
    Ramires—Luiz—McEachran
    Hulk—Torres—Mata/Hazard
phil Jones and McEachran wil be Chelsea’s Lamps and Terry for England and Chelsea for the next 12 years.

i like that, but we still need someone who can do a better finishing than josh, maybe hamsik or pastorer or ganso will do.joshwill learn from the bench.

  7. Chelseaphan says:

I believe me Josh is better than Wilshere! he will be just needs more chances! Zola would give him chances. I don’t care home grown produce better football and just makes you feel proud that they are made in Chelsea. I don’t like Pastore he is too skinny but I do like Ganso!

for me i think will need to ask ourselves one question, before deliberating on this issue. Who will be Chelsea Boss next season? If its Carlo, then i say bring in Kaka or Ganso. If it’s Guss bring in pastorer or hamsik. iF it’s Marco vanbastern bring in sneijer or modric. If it’s villas boas bring in any of this lads, then he’ii do a great job. why? ans- Carlo is good with Brazilians, Guss is better with foreign nationals. Marco is good with dutch players. But, Villas boas will do with any of this guyz cause he’s an intelligent manager and coach as well. Don’t forget that,if you need to see Fernando Torres at his best, then Drogba must go.malouda, anelka, kalou, yuri, ferreira, bosingwa, hilario and turnbull must leave as well.lampard should but accept a bench role or leave.Chelsea must cut loose of either essien or mikel and if any should go then i think it should be mikel.bring in neymar to bring width from the left flank. Hazard or sanchez on the right flank.aguero or lukaku to assist Torres.vaderweil to be our new right back.phil jones to replace terry from upper season and above, then what- mijatovic or any other to be out sporting director

The Kaka ‘story’ really intrigues me as I cannot see him joining Chelsea if Ancelotti goes? When you think about it all of this Ancelotti stuff has been pure speculation by the media. The only ‘official’ comment has been by Ancelotti saying he wants to stay and discounting stories about him going to Roma. Could it be that he knows he’s staying and that it suits him and the club for people to speculate whilst he goes about his business of bringing players in?
If Carlo could get Kaka playing again at his best, the Brazilian himself could certainly be Chelsea’s new Zola. I’m wondering if this is going to be one last big pay day for Drogs and he goes to Real as part of the deal?
Further speculation of Zola coming into the club as a coach to replace Wilkins’ successors fuels my thought process that Ancelotti’s position has never been in question and Roman enjoys wrong footing the media and football world whilst doing the clubs business under the radar so to speak. I read a report recently which stated that big clubs need to do there business by the end of June to be ‘excempt’ from the forthcoming UEFA financial rules. Personally I think Chelsea fans could see a lot of transfer movement in and out of the club very soon after this season finishes. It is blatantly obvious that Chelsea are too narrow and I hope we get a world class winger in to join Kaka (if it is true) as soon as possible. The two players that I would love to see come to the club would be Ganso and Sanchez. If Roman wants sexy football the likes of an on form Torres, an on form Kaka, Ganso and Sanchez would certainly give him that!

I think Sanchez will chelsea’s nxt Zola! Bt if i’d a coach i’ll bring Sanchez,Eden Hazard and Pastore/Modric/Ganso Torres needs players with xavi’s o iniesta’s characteristics! I thnk it’ll better 4 lampard 2 stay on bench and let McEachran(next Lampard) take his position kakà is too old 4 our club n kakà’s Era is over!
