Speaking ahead of what is believed to be his final game in charge of Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti insists he will not fight to keep his position and believes that he has done a good job at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian has managed the Blues for two seasons and won the fans over after the historic Premier League and FA Cup double winning campaign last year, but this season has been a tough one for the former champions and it’s a minor miracle that a team that performed so badly for so long managed to finish in second place.

Ancelotti said:

“I don’t want to ‘fight’ to keep my job.

“The club have to judge two years of my job. If they think that my job was good for this club, I will stay. If they think that my job was not so good, I will have to go.”

He added:

“I’m not ‘desperate’ to keep this job. It’s not my decision.

“My desire is to stay here because I feel happy here. I continue to feel good here. I love this atmosphere and the training ground.

“The people who are working around me are very honest and professional. I think, together, we did a good job.”

(Setanta)

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has never allowed a manager that hasn’t won a trophy to keep his job before, but despite what many people say and the media report, Ancelotti isn’t getting sacked because he hasn’t won anything. The speculation over his future has been around for months and it seems as though the writing was on the wall even whilst we were still competing for the league, FA Cup and Champions League.

The manager issue has been one that has split fans and been debated for some time now, with the pro Carlo lot pointing towards the double win and the need for stability, and those who do not think Ancelotti is the right man to see the club through in the long-term and argue that this season has shown him up for his tactical weakness, failure to motivate his staff and his irritating preference for like-for-like substitute changes.

Of course, the double we’re all forever thankful for the double win and stability would be nice, but I do not think that he’s the man to provide it and his words do not exactly instil me with confidence.

I also wasn’t much of a fan of what he did at AC Milan and the thought of a future of signings like Massimo Ambrosini and Andrea Pirlo doesn’t bear thinking about. Some say that we’re in a period of transition, is it wise to see it through with a man who has a history of favouring old heads and seems reluctant to change? But there’s plenty that needs work, not just the manager and/or the squad, but the scouting network needs an overhaul (these networks will become import as clubs have to abide by UEFA’s new financial rules) and there has been one too many horror stories about the medical staff for my liking…they completely missed Yossi Benayoun’s injury, which was discovered whilst he was on international duty, for instance.

On the point of stability (or lack of it) at Chelsea, we have often been criticised for our ‘revolving door’ policy and it has not always worked well for us, but when you win three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, two Community Shields – it’s perhaps not as detrimental as is made out, especially as we have only finished outside the top two once since Abramovich became owner of the club and also reached our first ever Champions League final in this time. Would be nice to have someone around long-term, of course, but it is certainly food for thought.

Do you think Carlo should stay or go? If he does, then good luck to him and I hope he’s remembered for the double winning campaign rather than the rollercoaster season, which we’re now approaching the end of.

Ancelotti is not the ideal man for chelsea and hence, he should pack his loads and go. He totally lost focus this season; he allowed 5 experienced {although weak players except ballack} to go without enough replacement; he relied on out-of-form old legs such malouda, essien, lampard, etc even when they weren’t @ the peak of their game; he preferred to use McEchran in the holding midfield role when it’s not even the lad’s preferred role, thus trying to destroy a promising talented player; his useless plans to sign ambrosini & pirlo speaks of his incompetence; he failed to stamp his authority in his dressing room and he has also failed to instill discipline among his players, imagine kalou walking out of the pitch hurriedly & unhappily after the game against tottenham because he was substituted for torres, and yet no disciplinary measure has been taken about it; he gave wrong starts & made wrong substitutions in several games especially in the champions league matches against man utd. His lack of confidence in our ability to win games is another factor. The days of Ancelotti as chelsea manager are numbered & brought to an expected end.

In three words – He should go.I’ve always said it and i knew it will come to this point where we’ll be asking for his sack.look at why they employed him(cpl trophy) with all that’s happen it obvious that we won’t get to a semis let alone win the most prestigious trophy in Europe under his toothlage.Carlo lacks what i like to call the three basics in coaching.1.tactics 2.technical know how and 3.good sub-rate in key games.Well i still blame Roman for employing a man that has coached two teams in ten years and won only 2 league trophies.we all know he has a bad league record and we also know why he won the champions league with Ac-Milan,the Milan players in 2003 were young as well as 2007.His idea of using old players instead young and hungry players has dressed down Chelsae’s pedigree in Europe in the last two years.Carlo lacks confidence. He cannot control His own dressing room as well as players in the squad. He has this crazy idea of staying out of players personal life thereby making him suffer for it on the pitch with the squad’s weak attitude towards important games.this problem does not stop at carlo but lingers to the squad as well.people like drogba have to give way for younger player, kalou, malouda, anelka, yuri, ferreira, bosingwa and maybe mikel must leave.we might have to suffer for it in a while but on the longterm with a coach like villas boas or marco vanbasten we’ll do more than exploit both home and abroad.please tell Roman to buy this players for the sack of CFC’s future- Neymar, hazard, hamsik or pastorer or ader turan, vanderweil, Aguero, mata and two more young player like kevin de bryune and Lucas of Brazil’s under-21.Lampard is a finished article and must either accept a bench role or leave like all others. Thanks,God bless the blues world wide.

I don’t want Acelotti in my club again bcos if he(Acelotti) is not sack he will take us to religation next season i mean we wll not qualify for ucl so i want him to go and i suggest Guss Hiddink should replace him i can’t say jose bcos his club will not allow him to leave but if they do good. I also want owner to sell the like of paulo,Anelka, bosiqwa and malouda even lampard if he refuse to stay bench and bring in,mostly creative midfielders becos we do not have any that can creat so we have to buy players like Luca modric, sneijder and javier pastore, wingers like Bale and one attack like Neymar Di santo and give Josh Eemc. a chance like wilshel. Thanks i luv u all D blue 4ever (Nigeria)

We need change in our team next season. Drogba lampard anelka malouda mikel should not be in the first team….these guys s
must be benched or b sold

  8. olantua says:

hey people, Ancelotti should b sacked and manager like basten or rijkaard. Becos he is nt d gud tactical man we need, imagine puttin ferreira for bosingwa wen we ar n need of goals and wat difference does dat sub made. Wen we av att on the bench. I believe an att wheather young or old should b favoured at dat time. Concernin transfers bosingwa, paulo, malouda, drogba, mikel, anelka, hilario should b shown d door. While lampard should b removed to d bench.players like neymar, sanchex.modric, bale, aguero, and a rightback should b signed. No to lukaku if we want sexy football.

  9. Anselem Jude says:

2day’s game totally revealed d incompetence of Ancelotti. Imagine Chelsea losing to 10 man Everton, gosh! Abramovich please sack Ancelotti & offload d likes of bosingwa, ferreira, turnbull, hilario, anelka, malouda, kalou, mikel, essien & zhirkov while lampard should be relegated 2 d bench. On d oda hand, bring in van der wiel, modric, pastore, neymar, aguero & a very good goalkeeper, while sturridge should return from loan. Chelsea 4 life.
