There has been a lot of talk regarding Harry Redknapp and the vacant managerial position at Chelsea over the last 24 hours as the current Tottenham boss remains the bookies favourite to take the Stamford Bridge hot seat, even Blues legend Gianfranco Zola has argued that ‘Arry could be a success in west London.

I’m sure that I’m not the only one who would be against such an appointment, it can’t happen, surely?

Here are five reasons why Redknapp won’t be the next manager at Chelsea:

1. Taxing problems:

He will go on trial in court this summer to face charges of tax evasion. Why would the club want to hire a manager that would be distracted by a lingering court case as they prepare for next season?

2. He’s had a terrible season:

Spurs drew nine times at White Hart Lane this season and their poor home form tells you all you need to know about why they couldn’t finish in the top four again this season.

3. Downgrade:

Many of Carlo Ancelotti’s critics accused the Italian of being tactically inept, lacking imagination and failing to make an impact on games with his like-for-like substitutions, but next to Redknapp, Carlo looks like a tactical genius with Jose-like powers.

4. Too old:

Ok, so at 64 he’s the same age as Guus Hiddink, who many would love to see back at the club and if he does comeback as manager it would only be a short-term measure, but Guus has already been successful at Chelsea, is already a club advisor and if he does come in as manager, he could potentially nurture his successor (perhaps Marco van Basten, who is also linked with the job) and eventually take a director’s role upstairs (assuming he doesn’t at first). As for Redknapp, I can’t see him bringing anything new to Chelsea at this stage of his career and is just waiting around for the England job anyway.

5. Blind spot:

‘Arry often sticks with his favourites and seems to play them regardless of their form, which he has been criticised for by his own club’s fans and there’s already too many players at Chelsea that are too comfortable in their places, in my opinion. Would you want a man who thinks Crouch is ‘triffic managing your club? A manager that sees Steven Pienaar as a better player Niko Kranjcar? A manager that rates his wife as a better finisher than Darren Bent?

Who was better than spurs at home this season? Lets look at it. Spurs 9 wins, 9 draws = 36 points. United, 18 wins, 1 draw = 55 points so yes. Chelsea 14 wins, 3 draws = 45 points so yes. City 13 wins, 4 draws = 43 points so yes. Arsenal 11 wins, 4 draws = 37 points so yes. Liverpool with 12 wins, 4 draws = 40 points so yes. Don’t get me wrong Harry came in and steadied the ship. But he inherited a very good squad, one which any half decent manager would be able to climb up the table with. It’s not as miraculous as everyone is making out. His signings have been poor to say the least. That was a cert wasn’t it lol aye good night, didn’t have my phone charging properly so it packed in. It’s just came back on now time for him to go.

Stupid cut and paste on iPhone, ignore the last couple of lines of that post lol

Yeah, people are concentrating too much on the fact you only lost one and ignoring the amount of games you drew, which caused you to drop points.

And you’d know better than me as you watch them every week, were there a lot of games that you drew that you should have won but ‘Arry failed you?

Harry is already managing the biggest club in London, why would he want to take a step down and manage the third biggest club in London??

    Clowns

    ??

  4. chelski41 says:

Erm…spurs is the biggest club in london is it? when was the last time you won anything? 1991 with jugears and gazza wasnt it? Gooners not won feck all in 5 yrs..that leaves chelsea who have won..let me think..yeah 3 premiership titles , several fa cups and league titles and a final of champs league. As for Harry at the bridge I think it would be a good signing, he gets the players to be believe in themselves like the master Jose did. Should never have got rid of carlo and Ray wilkins in first place. Bentletsbird…you are so full of **** you must be a bird.

    • Anthony Williams says:

All he has done is take Spurs to a level where they should be, a level where Jol (better manager) already had them, but only looks good because of the Ramos interruption where they took a nosedive.

Can’t compare Redknapp to Jose. Jose is a winner and a tactical mastermind, ‘Arry isn’t.

I was talking to a friend of mine this morning, who’s a Chelsea fan, he was trying to wind me up, in a fun way, as I’m a spurs fan, until I pointed out the following.
Firstly, we all know Harry will go any where there is a brown enverlope.
Second, the season before last, you finished first, we finished fourth.
Last season, it was looked upon as a failure, as you finished second, Harry got us to 5th place, he reckons this is success, point made.

Wow…didn’t expect to see so many switched on people on here.
On one hand its hard to knock the guy that was ‘at the helm’ whilst we dined at the big table again, ‘for a while’, but his lack of all things honourable is shocking..has no rapport with the fans and is too full of himself, often losing sight of who’s doing who the biggest favour here. He needs to cut out the crap and stop messing around in the media, talking nonsense and rubbing us up in the wrong way!..get on the job and get rid of the debris: Defoe-Crouch-Jenas-Wilson-Woody-

    COYS

  8. SPURSINCE82 says:

HAhaha! Rednapp is ITV all over…who’d of guessed it?forgot to mention that 1.

  9. michael says:

Cause before Redknapp took over, we were finishing top 4 every season, yes!?. Which Spurs menager finish season higher then Redknapp? You dont remember, do you!?

  10. ken e winks says:

Firstly, whats all that “when did you last win anything…the FA cup 91 with jugears etc”…Seem to remember turning you lot over a few years back and lifting a trophy? No class with the attitude we’ve won 3 prems fa cup blah blah.NOT WON. BOUGHT. Your supposed to win when you can do whatever the f**k you want, don’t make a big club though. Your essence is a 3 quarters full ground with a dog track. Good luck when that d**k russian gets bored. John bumstead says hi.
