Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has enjoyed a good weekend in the Premier League as he has seen his side get three points closer to Manchester United, and has shrugged off Salomon Kalou’s post-match strop after scoring the winner against Tottenham yesterday.

The Ivorian came off the bench to score the winning goal for the Blues against Harry Redknapp’s side, then immedietly disappeared down the tunnel straight after the full-time whistle instead of celebrating with his team-mates and the Chelsea support.

Kalou was reportedly unhappy that he had been left out in favour of Fernando Torres as Carlo was keen to try out the Spaniard and Didier Drogba as a strike pairing, but the manager was cool on the incident:

“I am happy because he scored a goal and if he didn’t celebrate because he was disappointed, I’m not interested.

“It’s not a problem. I have to manage valuable professional players and I understand sometimes they are not happy to stay on the bench, but this is Chelsea.

“It is a top club, you have competition in the squad because a top club does not just have 11 players.”

The striker has been enjoying a good run of late and was unfortunate not to lose his starting place for yesterday’s game, but this is bigger than him and I think he showed poor form to not celebrate with his team-mates and I’m sure he knows this himself.

However, it’s a minor negative and what matters is the three points gained on Manchester United, who lost at the Emirates Stadium today.

A win against United next weekend would put Chelsea top of the league by virtue of goal difference, who thought we’d be in this position after suffering our worst form in years?

Never like kalou!! Hope he’s the first player sold..luckily he made up for the gimme he missed off the rebound..we need to keep the startin guys up frot that we had this weekend. I’m likin obi more annnd more each week! But kalou…you’re fortunate to even be @ a club like chelsea!

That was the first thing I noticed after the goal. Even his best friend mikel tried to cheer him up ( obi had a great performance). Happens every year, kalou goes missing till the last month of every season. I do think that more play time would help him AND Chelsea but he isn’t a big enough name for most. He will always be a contributor, not a focal point. I am a fan but unless he can accept his role he will have to play somewhere else!

@ a c, you obviously don’t know you what you are talking about. the best partnership is drogb, kalou; and malouda. without them it will be hard for chelsea to win anything. kalou is under appreciated by the coach. he has won many games for us. and should start first for now

Fidel – I completely agree with you. Hes scored some important goals for us this season, Hes on much better form than Torres at the moment, DD is the best in his position and start, If they wanna change our formations next season then fine, but with 3 games to go 4 – 3 – 3 is our best formation with Malouda and Kalou on either side of DD.

To say a real fact kalou should,nt have don dat 4 his team mate, we know d coach made a mistake 4 using 4-4-2 formation all wot we needed now is 4-3-3 to win league race

yeah,u all r right…anceloti is nt gud wiz that line up of 4.4.2,it should 4.3.3 and ststed wiz kalou first

kalou is a super sub for last 20 mins when opposition are tiring. He is not good enough to start. I’d prefer anelka and dd to start with kalou and torres coming on at 70mins

Its Natural for him to get angry but as the coach said…only 11players would play nd d others will be benched…but also he has earned a starting role nd should start against united!…follow me on twitter @Cruz2C4
