It has previously been reported that Chelsea are interested in Manchester City’s unsettled striker Carlos Tevez, and may be willing to pay big money to prise the Argentine off the Eastlands club, but it’s also believed that the Citizens would be unwilling to sell to another Premier League club, even if they meet the asking price.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the rumour could have some legs in it yet as Blues may be willing to offer Didier Drogba as well as £30m to sweeten the deal.

Many have suggested that Drogba would be unwilling to play second fiddle to Fernando Torres, and considering the Ivorian’s age, length of current contract and Torres’ £50m fee, it’s inevitable that if one of them has to take a step back or leave, it’ll be Drogba.

That’s unless the Chelsea duo manage to forge an effective strike partnership, but they have been unable to do so as yet and some quarters of the media suggest that the club may be looking for an alternative forward to partner their record signing.

It’s believed that Tevez wants out of City as he is missing his family, who are reluctant to live in Manchester, but if they would move to London remains to be seen.

Hypothetically speaking, would this be a part-exchange deal that you would go for?

If Tevez leaves, he wants out of England, not just a move down South. He’s split with his wife and the kids are with her back in Argentina.

City are also buying for the future and have mostly bought young, especially the most recent buys. A 33 year old would be a bad fit, especially given the financial fair play rules and the exorbitant salary Drogba would be asking.

Dead in the water this one pal…

I honestly doubt whether Drogba is good enough to be a regular at City.

I also doubt that we could afford Tevez. He’s easily the best striker in England. If Torres is worth £50m, how much is he worth, realistically?

Arfe you drunnk? Drogba would be cities best damn player! The deal wot happen tho. Chelsea won’t pay those wages (250;000) a week. Great player tho. Would love to see him inthe blue part of london

No, I don’t want him nowhere near our team. I hate him and he hates us. However, if the club is serious about moving Drogba on, then i’d be okay so see him swapped with an Aguero or another target. But I’d love Drogba to stay and be our Giggs. I want him to be apart of our team that lifts the Champion’s League at the Allianz next season.

I’m a city fan, and I’d bite your arm off for Drogba. He’s knocking on, but he’s never relied on pace. Torres isn’t as good as Drogba.

Any team only gets 2 years with Tevez. The good thing about him is that he’s a plucky little b*stard. He can run all day. He wore boots that were too small for him when he was growing up, they say his feet are like claws. He literally tears up the pitch. After playing for west ham, man U and man city he still doesn’t speak a word of the queens.

If Man City win the FA cup, and you can steal the premier league off Man utd, you can have him for free. Utd would have to take down that “35 years” sign, and City could put up a “1 year” sign of our own.

Chelsea’s dip in form coincided with you trying to give Torres a chance. Torres is only good when he has blonde hair, I recon.

can dis b d best deal? Is tevez worth it

  7. Ignatius says:

Tevez will be a good add but dont ever swap drogba for any reason

  8. lol says:

I dont think we need him, he’s a good player but we have strikers . . . its people to beat the opposition defenders with the ball at their feet or with a clever pass that we need and get the ball to strikers

  9. sr says:

I’m with you on the blonde hair. I’ve thought it for a while now.

Can’t see this ever happening for a number of reasons. I think we should let Drogba see out his contract. Let him and Torres fight for their places as the target man of a three front line.

Haha have to agree with the Torres blonde hair! One of my kids said that the other day. “why doesn’t he just die his hair again? then he’ll start scoring”
