The agent of Manuel Pellegrini, Malaga manager, has claimed that Chelsea have shown an interest in the former Real Madrid boss, as they are once again on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti.

Jesus Martinez, Pellegrini’s agent said:

“It is normal for clubs without a coach, such as Chelsea through intermediaries, to start asking Pellegrini, but he is very comfortable at Malaga and has a contract there.

“He has put a lot of effort into Malaga and is pleased and excited to work with the team.”

With Guus Hiddink, Marco van Basten and Andre Villas-Boas’ names being mentioned, I don’t think Pellegrini would have been the name our fans would have expected to hear linked with the job and not necessarily the candidate that they’d want to see at Stamford Bridge next season. I’m inclined to believe that Mr Martinez is probably just telling fibs and just doing what agents do by linking his client’s name to jobs for various different reasons, but what do you think of the Malaga chief as a potential Chelsea manager?

Like you say, Martinez is probably making it all up. Abramovich would not go for Pellegrini.
