Chelsea spent over £70m strengthening their squad in January and it has been rumoured that club owner Roman Abramovich is ready to spend big again this summer.
According to the Daily Express, the Blues will be seeking out a new left back, a right back and a central midfielder – three positions which they are allegedly keen to build on.
I can understand going for another right back as I’m not expecting Jose Bosingwa to stick about much longer, but with Patrick van Aanholt and Ryan Bertrand within the ranks, do we need another left back? I don’t think so as either of the aforementioned are worthy understudies for Ashley Cole.
Chelsea sorely missed Frank Lampard whilst he was missing with injury this season and I think we would be a lot closer to Manchester United, if not leading the league, had the midfield talisman been available during the ‘bad moment’. Also, Yossi Benayoun sustained a long term injury, so the Blues were without much creative influence in the midfield. It would make sense to start looking for the next Lampard as the guy isn’t going to last forever and although he has always been blessed with his physical conditioning, we may not get the best out of him if we’re to run him ragged week in week out.
But I think the area in which Chelsea needs to concentrate on most is on wingers as we don’t have much threat out wide and we’re lacking variety to the way we play.

I think chelsea should forget about signing bale. if they can pay 40 million for bale then they can surely pay that amount for sanchez. I would personally like to see neymar , lukaku ,andrigo(Brazil), sanchez, lahm , wallace (Fluminese) and then a creative midfielder to join the team. Well if you get wallace and lahm you could expect wallace to be a good understudy for lahm. As for andrigo chelsea will be facing stiff competition from Barcelona and Manchester united. Though chelsea could use piazon’s influence on him as they both along with wallace play for Brazil u-17. Certainly the guy would choose chelsea because here he would feel like being at home.

Chelsea has been rejuvunated in the last few weeks (2 months). I believe that they hit a long- run of week confidence performances toward mid-season. Instead of thinking about new players, why not play to current players strengths? Drogba has to stay. Key is to combine torres and drogba together in a formation that lets torres feed off drogba’s knock downs. If new good players are bought in each time something goes wrong, then how will the old players regain their confidence. Just hope abrahimovic doesn’t pull another “shevchenco” on Torres.
Some of you people are so deluded! We will not be able to buy all of these players as we will not meet the standards set by UEFA to play in the CL.
We do need to strengthen, but we do not need 5-6 more like 3.
I am hoping we get rid of Bosingwa, Kalou, Zhrikov, Paulo and Anelka (unfortunately) and bring in an attacking RB (Van Der wiel), 2 quality Wingers who can play either Flank (Bring back Robben! and Hazard/Neymar)

Chelsea already have a fantastic team with fantasic young players but we do have to spend on 3-4 areas on the pitch.
First of all we need a RB, now Boswingwa has played rubbish since his year long injury, Paulo Ferreira is too unreliable so that makes Van der Wiel my number one target, he is young, fast and can put in a fabulous cross. Next is Central Midfield, Lampards age has finally caught up with him although i think he should be in the starting Line up for one more season. Sneijder is my target, he can give an inch perfect ball to Nando so he can start scoring regulary, and Sahin would be a great add to the squad aswell. The 3rd position we need to improve is RW, now we dont have a regular RW so we should buy Sanchez who is young and very talented.
