There seems to be a lot of talk from Chelsea fans at the moment as to who we should buy (and sell) this summer. We all have our varying opinions but one thing is for sure……. we enter the next round of the Champions league against Manchester United with the squad of players that we presently have and no one else!

This is when we ALL come together and wish Carlo Ancelotti and whoever he picks in the team and for the bench all the very best of luck and to go out there and do us and our club proud. Many of our players have a score to settle with United in this competition and I for one would love to see the likes of Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Ashley Cole and Petr Cech put in the performances of their careers so far.

As an aside, I was astonished to read how Chelsea have more tickets for sale for our Stamford Bridge leg against United as the Reds have not sold their allocation? Tickets are available to Chelsea season ticket holders at the box office from Tuesday morning (so I am led to believe). Whatever happened to the mighty Reds claiming they are the best supported club in the World?

Let’s ALL get behind the lads and make Stamford Bridge a cauldron of sound (including the east and west stands) so that we give Sir Alex Ferguson something else to think about other than how ‘lucky’ Chelsea have been against his United team. The man really does deserve an excellent performance from Chelsea to shove his comments back down his throat.

As for Wayne Rooney’s two match ban for his foul mouthed outburst at Upton Park and Fergie’s ‘outrage’, I don’t recall too much support from the likes of United when Drogs received his THREE game ban following our being cheated out of the competition against Barca by a certain Scandinavian so called referee!

KTBFFH!

Not true about United not selling all their tickets for the Stamford Bridge leg. They were heavily oversubscribed, as are all United away games, and a ballot took place. I missed out. HTH

Also, not sure why Chelsea feel they have a score to settle with United in the CL. United were the best side in Moscow, not by much, but by enough. Much is made of Terry’s slip in the shootout, but the fact remains that the game wouldn’t have gone to extra-time, let alone pens, if Van der Sar hadn’t slipped to let Lampard score your equaliser.

Surely the score to settle is United’s. Drogba was a yard offside for your winner at OT last season. Without that we would have been Champions for the 4th year running.

This tie is too close to call. I just hope the best team wins over the two legs and it’s not down to poor reffing.

        Well said…

Its ALL down to ‘Opinions’! Drogba’s ‘offside goal’? what about Machada’s handball ‘goal’ for United (same match)? ‘United played better in the CL final’? After 90 mins and stoppage time the RESULT was a draw…FACT! Yes, we still owe United!

        • Will Calder says:

Yes, and after extra-time and penalties United lifted the Champions league trophy. Fact!

Football is all ‘ifs and buts’. If it hadn’t been raining Terry might have scored his pen. But then again VDS would have got to the ball before Lampard and there would have been no equaliser.

United’s last two league games at Stamford Bridge and the one at OT last season have been decided by appalling ref’s decisions, when in many opinions, United were the stronger side on those 3 occasions.

If Chelsea outplay us over these 2 games then good luck to them, I’m just hoping the game is decided by the players and not the ref.

It IS TRUE! As reported on CTV. Don’t believe them? Ring the box office at Stamford Bridge and ask them how over 2,000 tickets became ‘suddenly’ available to them Tuesday, to offer to season ticket holders with 23 loyalty points or more! United DID NOT sell their allocation….simples!

I’ve just had a conversation with a nice lad in the Chelsea ticket office – 0871 984 1905 – he actually laughed when I mentioned a rumour that United had returned some unsold tickets and said, ‘that’s the first I’ve heard about it’. He did mention that some tickets were still available but these were all in the Chelsea end for people with over 23 points.

        HTH

Events can change a game and everyone has their own opinion, but I do not think you were the better side in Moscow overall.

But unfortunately we lost out on pens and what disappointed me most was Drogba getting himself sent off for a stupid off the ball incident, which meant he wasn’t on the field to take a penalty.

As for last season’s game at Old Trafford, there were many questionable decisions, including two penalty shouts from either side turned down and two dodgy goals (Drogba & Macheda).

The last time we met we got the rub of the green and ended up winning the game, but after already gaining an advantage, why didn’t your side turn up in the second half?
