Here are five players Chelsea could do with getting rid of to bring their ageing squad up to scratch!

Paulo Ferreira

The full-back’s displays this season have only shown that the Portuguese international is clearly not good enough to wear a Chelsea shirt. He depends on his pace and that has now gone.

How much? £2m

*

Salomon Kalou

The Ivorian has never been able to command a regular place in the side and has only ever contributed in small doses towards Chelsea’s season and has never been a key player. He is often thrown on when Chelsea have run out of ideas.

How much? 10m

Hilario

He was signed as a third keeper but when he has stood in for those above him he has looked less than convincing.

How much? £500k

*

Jose Bosingwa

The Portugese full-back (another one) has lost his place to the consistent Branislav Ivanovic and does not look like dislodging him from the spot. Bosingwa’s qualities lie in his attacking qualities and not in his defensive play.

How much? £8m

*

Daniel Sturridge

The young striker is yet to hold down a regular spot and it is hampering his development. It is clear Chelsea won’t look to Sturridge when Didier Drogba and Nicholas Anelka go, they will spend big to replace them – he needs to being playing regularly.

How much? £10m

I’m glad Mikel is not mentioned here, usually he is the first in some people’s list when he is one of the most important players in our team but his qualities are never appreciated and one bad performance is penalized by the fans, easy to forget he is the best DM in this country and he is only 23!!

  2. nick says:

who do you think will pay 10million for sturridge?

  3. sean says:

yea i wish someone would pay 10m for sturridge but lets b honest id say more 5-8 tops. While he looks like a promising star, every time i have seen him in with the first team he hasnt shown me he is worth 10, but hey maybe lfc can give us torres money back then lol

what do you know about football and chelsea?! Solomon Kalou? are you being serious? he is our most young promising player… he has potential and he is improving, not to mention he saved our asses at the FA cup match yesterday vs everton… and Sturridge has a great future… you’re an idiot… and if they sell paulo ferrira and jose bosingwa who will be chelsea’s rightback? think before you type aload of none sense

    • dax says:

well said. Finally a chelsea fan with brains!

    • Natalie says:

I’m afraid I have to disagree with you. To say Kalou is our most promising youngster is wrong. What about the likes of McEachran, Bruma,Van Aaholt and Kakuta to mention a few. Yea, sure he’s had his moments but he will never be a 30 goal a season striker. Perhaps its best for both parties that he moves on although I must admit I would keep him rather than Anelka. Sturridge is constantly overlooked by Carlo so you have to ask yourself why? Again Anelka can go first.

Do you honestly think Ferreira and Bosingwa are good right backs? Ivanovic can play at right back and with the money raised from selling them bring in another right back.
      Anelka, Kalou, Ferreira, Bosingwa, Hilario.

If Torres signs then it would be hard to choose between Kalou and Droba who’s on the” to sell list.” But thats a different debate.

    • Anthony Williams says:

At 25, Kalou can hardly be considered a youngster, truecfc.

He does have his merits and he’s something of a marmite player amongst the Chelsea support.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, so I would appreciate it if you didn’t call anyone an idiot for having one, even if it’s one you do not agree with.

      • Ify says:

All of u are sets of compound idiots can any of play good football? Ur here talkin abt who shud be sold or not

  5. nicky says:

“he has potential and he is improving,”

    What do you know?

He is rubbish and has not learned a thing in the last 5 years!!..

  6. dax says:

why sell kalou? considering he is happy as a squad player and as a sub he does make an impact. clearly not a starter however he never moans and gets on with it unlike others. As for Sturridge he has not had a sniff of a chance at chelsea. why is it that anelka and malouda who have been shocking all season play week in week out yet when sturrdige just misplaces a pass he gets dropped for weeks! sturrdige is very young and has a future while anelka and malouda are past it.

  7. dax says:

If i had to sell 5 players they would be

    1, hilario
    2, ferriera
    3, anelka
well thats it as we dont have much of a squad and i would have to replace them with quality.

  8. Anthony Williams says:

I agree, I wouldn’t sell young forwards like Sturridge or Kalou considering the amount of 30-somethings in the forwards line.

If I was to choose five to sell, as long as they’re replaced, it would be:

    1. Yury Zhirkov – good player, but unlucky with injuries and a saleable asset.

    2. Nicolas Anelka – don’t see us offering him the wages he’d like, to keep him beyond the 18 months on his deal.

    3. Henrique Hilario – won’t make any money on this one, but I’d like for us to get Begovic to fill another homegrown spot and sell Hilario, who is currently wasting an overseas spot.

    4. Paulo Ferreira – has been a great servant to the club, but it’s time to go…probably was a while ago.

    5. Didier Drogba – probably the most controversial suggestion in my list, but considering his age it will be important to sell him at the right time. He will of course have to be replaced by someone special though.

  9. Bemol says:

Why kalou, sturidge, bosigwa what do u mean. goers should be drogba who can’t take on defender one on one which kalou can do, anelka can’t go front, mikel aways under the shadwo of essien, lampard, ferraira and hilario.

  10. Dax says:

i would not sell drogs he still has a few years left. Plus with Torres coming there will be less pressure on him
