Chelsea target Christopher Nkunku is “very keen” to join the Stamford Bridge outfit.

What’s the word?

That is according to journalist Simon Phillips, who has informed GIVEMESPORT of the France international’s desire to make the switch to west London.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Phillips said: “The medical doesn’t mean it’s a done deal yet. They’re still in talks with his people, but he’s very keen. He wants to move to London. He’s especially keen to play for Chelsea.

“Obviously his release clause comes into play next summer and I think that will be just over 50 million, so he’s definitely attainable. And if you’re going to buy a top forward player like Nkunku, that’s a really good price to get him for.”

A massive move

With Nkunku’s release clause of €60m (£53m) set to kick in next year, Phillips is correct when he says it’s a “really good price to get him for.”

The 24-year-old has quickly become one of Europe’s brightest prospects at RB Leipzig, more so over the last couple of seasons, which have seen him prosper in a more advanced position as a sort of second striker.

Last term saw the former Paris Saint-Germain asset help himself to a whopping 33 goal contributions in the form of 20 goals and 13 assists in just 34 Bundesliga games. An emphatic return that is demonstrative of his attacking nous.

And he has brought that form into the new season, having scored six goals in eight appearances thus far for a struggling RB Leipzig side, which has still not fazed his efforts in the final third.

Based on his metrics, the hybrid-forward has everything that it takes to thrive in the Premier League, and quite simply, it’s a move that will have Graham Potter and Todd Boehly licking their lips over a versatile and proficient star who can lead the Chelsea front-line for years to come.
