Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, currently on loan at Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, could return to Stamford Bridge in January.

What’s the word?

That is according to journalist Simon Phillips, who has informed GIVEMESPORT of Chelsea’s potential to recall the 21-year-old in order to replace Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech.

The journalist would not be surprised to see Hudson-Odoi make a swift return to the club if Boehly and co decide to sell Pulisic or Ziyech in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Phillips said: “It’s a tough one because his loan is going well. He’s getting games there and that’s the most important thing. We need him to develop and gain his confidence and his form back.

“But if he continues to do that until January and then say, for example, Chelsea decide to sell Pulisic or Ziyech or both of them even, then I can definitely see Potter going to Callum and saying, ‘Look, we need you back.’ And I think as long as he can guarantee Callum some regular game time, he’d be ok to come back.”

The return of CHO?

Under former boss Thomas Tuchel, £120k-per-week Hudson-Odoi was surplus to requirement for the most part.

But, under the new regime, that could indeed change for the 3-cap England international, if one of the aforementioned options is to depart.

Having created four chances in three Bundesliga matches, Hudson-Odoi is creating 1.9 chances per 90, in what is another sign of promise in his attempts to adapt to German football.

He currently has a solitary assist to his name and is beginning to become a regular feature under manager Gerardo Seoane.

Whilst the signs of promise are evident, Hudson-Odoi needs to discover a greater spell of end-product at a more consistent rate if he is to be of use to Chelsea in January.

If he can do that, you can imagine him becoming a superstar under the tutelage of Graham Potter.
