Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is currently in London amidst transfer links to Manchester United and Chelsea, respectively.

What’s the word?

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, via GIVEMESPORT, who claims that people are “putting two and two together” with many believing that the subject of the summer is set to complete an emphatic end to the saga that has haunted him for months.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth said: “I’m sure you watched with interest as well, the social media frenzy when he was filmed arriving at Barcelona airport with his partner ahead of a flight to London.

“So, by all accounts, he is in London at the moment and people were putting two and two together and saying, is he going to the United offices, is he going to the Liverpool offices, is he going to sign for Chelsea?

“What we do know is that Barcelona squad after the Sunday game were given two days off. And he’s chosen, I’m not sure why he’s chosen to go to the eye of the storm, but he’s chosen to go to London for that break.

“Now whether there is something else to it with Barcelona saying just be in that position be in the country just in case something materialises.”

Groundbreaking Chelsea claim

Sheth’s claim with just hours to go before the summer transfer window slams shut is somewhat groundbreaking for a player who has been tipped to stay at the club this summer.

As the Sky Sports reporter alluded to; having been given two days off it is certainly unusual for the player to put himself in the eye of the storm on the busiest day of the summer period.

As we know, anything can happen on deadline day, which is where a sliver of hope is spawned in what would be a groundbreaking move that would shake the entirety of the footballing landscape.

Tuchel is in need of a player like De Jong, who averages an impressive  2.91 shot-creating actions, 5.49 passes into the final third and 5.08 progressive passes per 90.

A signing like the 25-year-old, who specialises in creating stability in the engine room and moving the ball into dangerous areas of the pitch, is exactly the sort of profile that the German boss needs amidst his side’s struggles in creating clear-cut chances.

With the £164k-per-week “genius”, as dubbed by Barca boss Xavi, said to be in London on a day where anything can happen, we can not yet rule out a Premier League move for a player who will be feeling very unwanted at Barcelona right now.
