Chelsea are said to be holding “behind-the-scenes” talks over the future of sought-after Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher.

What’s the word?

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, via GIVEMESPORT, who claims that Gallagher himself may be “pushing for a move away” with an eye on the fast-approaching World Cup that will take place later this year.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth said: “Last season, he had a fantastic loan spell at Crystal Palace, so good that he got England recognition.

“Now, I’m sure Connor Gallagher, with three months to go until the World Cup, has got the taste to play for England and he will have aspirations and ambitions to get into the World Cup squad. If he’s not playing, he’s simply not going to get that opportunity.

“So, I’m sure there will be talks going on behind the scenes on what is best for his development. Is it to go on another loan? Is it maybe to sell him permanently? Or, indeed, Is he going to get the opportunities that he wants at Chelsea? I just think it is definitely one to watch in the last hours.”

Best business of the summer

Amidst ongoing behind-the-scenes talks at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea could be set for one of their best pieces of business this summer, and here is why;

If the 22-year-old is to stay at Chelsea, he should have a part to play with a lack of certifiable depth at the club, amidst injury struggles across the board.

Gallagher may have seen enough intent from Tuchel who trusted him with his second consecutive start for the club in the 2-1 win against Leicester City, in a game that saw the 4-cap England international sent off after picking up two yellow cards.

Though, if Gallagher is indeed pushing for a last-minute move away, it will most likely be via a loan due to the nature of being in the final few hours of the market.

The Cobham academy graduate endured a phenomenal spell on-loan at Crystal Palace last season in a move that earned him England recognition.

It lead to a great deal of development for the starlet, so if he was to depart in the final few hours, he could replicate this strategy, potentially boost his England chances and ultimately add value to himself and his price-tag, which will certainly please Chelsea.

If the player is to depart, a loan move would be best for both parties.
