Chelsea have reached a full agreement with Barcelona over the permanent transfer of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
What’s the word?
That is according to the ever-reliable transfer guru that is Fabrizio Romano, who took to Twitter to add this deal to his ever expanding and infamous collection of “here we go” updates.
Taking to his personal Twitter page, Romano said: “Pierre Aubameyang to Chelsea and Marcos Alonso to Barça: here we go! Full agreement completed. €14m fee to Barcelona.
“More: Aubameyang will fly to London around 5pm! Two year deal + one more option.
“Alonso in Spain to undergo medical and sign three year deal.”
Tuchel will be delighted
The Deadline Day capture of Aubameyang will certainly delight Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who has been in desperate need of a target man to spearhead his side after the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, respectively.
Despite the Gambia international being well into his thirties, his permanent capture is astute, and most importantly, safe for Tuchel who finds himself in a time where he needs players that he can trust.
Having worked with Aubameyang during his spell at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, Tuchel knows the striker on a personal level and, as proven in their time working together, understands how to get the best out of him.
The move is made even safer due to the credentials that the forward has shown during his short stint at Barcelona.
His exit from Barcelona is no indication of a lack of quality, he is merely a victim amidst the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and the financial transition that Barcelona find themselves in.
At Camp Nou, Aubameyang reiterated his potency in front of goal, having bagged 11 goals in 17 La Liga appearances last season.
The former Arsenal star is Premier League proven and could prove to be a bargain when bearing in mind the reported €14m (£12m) fee that the club are paying to secure his services.
With Alonso heading the other way, this is a move that suits all parties, with Chelsea happy for the Spaniard to depart for a return to his homeland.
