Chelsea are monitoring the progress of Villarreal starlet Yeremy Pino.

What’s the word?

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, via The Here We Go Podcast, who claims that the club have been tracking the 19-year-old along with other top English clubs for a long time.

Speaking on his podcast, on the topic of Chelsea, he said:

“I’m told that also Chelsea have been tracking Yeremy Pino, for now they are on Gordon but Yeremy Pino is another player they have been following since long time.

“Top English clubs are following him, but at the moment, there is still no bid.”

Tuchel’s star-boy?

The latest update in regards to Pino will come as a nice surprise to the Stamford Bridge faithful.

Whilst the 19-year-old’s contract is set to expire in 2027, with how efficient Chelsea are moving in this summer’s window, you would not be shocked if the club were to wrap up a deal for the youngster within the next two weeks.

Having endured a breakout season during the 20/21 campaign, Pino continued his upwards trajectory within the 21/22 season with his efforts in securing 10 goal contributions translating to four caps for the Spain national team.

Plying his trade for a conservative Villarreal side, his average of 22.51 passes completed and 42.66 touches place him in and around the 20th percentile, which is low compared to other positionally similar players in Europe’s top five leagues.

Though, this is an impact of playing in a rigid system, with his work off the ball not only demonstrating this, but underlying his identity as an unorthodox, defensive minded winger.

Pino’s average of 2.96 tackles & interceptions are complimented by his average of 2.62 blocks per game, along with his total of 0.86 tackles in the defensive third of the pitch per 90.

The Spain international is a hardworking winger and would become Tuchel’s star-boy in Chelsea’s high-pressing, mass possession system.

As Romano states, Chelsea are monitoring him, so this is one to keep an eye on over the starlet who has scored 14 goals throughout his young career.
