Throughout the season, the rumour mill continues to turn, and Chelsea fans have been reacting to speculation linking the Blues with a move for Nice’s Youcef Atal.
According to the Sun, Chelsea are plotting a move for the Algerian right-back in January, if the club can get their transfer ban overturned.
The Blues have already served one window of their two-window transfer ban, and as reported by the Sun, it’s believed that Chelsea are confident of being active in the transfer window in January.
However, the Blues aren’t the only team interested in signing Youcef Atal from France. As per Calciomercato, Chelsea’s Champions League Group H opponents, Valencia, are also interested in the 23-year-old.
Atal only joined Nice at the start of last season, and the defender impressed greatly during his first season in France.
To date, the right-back has attained 32 appearances for the French side, contributing towards seven goals (six scored, one assist).
The Blues already have Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James as options at right-back, even Davide Zappacosta has yet to leave the club permanently – he joined AS Roma on loan this summer.
However, as the rumours indicate, it appears that the Blues are in the market for defensive recruitment.
