Following his excellent start to the season in the Premier League, Mason Mount has been called up to the England squad and excitement is beginning to amass ahead of a possible international debut.

Before Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United, Mason Mount alongside Ross Barkley was called up to the England squad for their upcoming games against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

This isn’t the first time that the 20-year-old has been called up to the national side. Mount joined the England camp in October last year, but he was an unused substitute against Spain and Croatia in the Nations League.

Given his promising start to the season – Mount has already scored a couple of league goals for the Blues – it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the 20-year-old to feature for his country for the first time.

In an England press-conference, Mount spoke of the importance of representing his country. He also spoke of the occasion’s significance to his family, as per the Chelsea website.

To feature regularly for Chelsea and to become an England international at the age of 20 would be an excellent achievement for a player who has started the season in tremendous form.

Unsurprisingly, the Chelsea fans have been full of support and enthusiasm for the youngster ahead of England’s fixtures.

Here’s the best of the reaction:
