Having impressed on loan with Frank Lampard at Derby County last season, Mason Mount has seized his first-team opportunities at Chelsea with style. In his opening four league appearances, the 20-year-old has scored a couple of goals and has earnt recognition from the Premier League.

As per Chelsea’s official website, to mark his first league appearance, the midfielder has been awarded a commemorative Premier League debut ball.

A 4-0 defeat at Manchester United was hardly the fairy-tale start for Mount, but as he told the Chelsea website, making his first senior appearance for the club was a long-awaited ambition of his.

The 20-year-old has already scored in successive games this term, bagging a couple of impressive finishes against Leicester City and Norwich City, and he has earnt an excellent average rating of 7.55 (via Whoscored) for his displays in England’s top-flight.

Upon taking the managerial role at Chelsea, Lampard spoke openly of his admiration for the club’s young players, and Mount, alongside Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, is making the most of the provided opportunities.

Chelsea fans are understandably thrilled with Mount’s progression and his recognition from the Premier League, especially having waited so long to see meaningful youth integration at the club.

Here’s the best of the reaction:
