N’Golo Kante is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football, and his performance in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool reaffirmed such claims.
While being one of the humblest players in the Premier League, N’Golo Kante is also among the most talented.
His absence has affected Chelsea significantly this term. The Frenchman has only been involved in half of the Blues’ games this season, missing three league games and the Blues’ 1-0 Champions League defeat to Valencia due to a sprained ankle (as per Transfermarkt).
In truth, he wasn’t fully fit in the Blues’ narrow penalty shoot-out defeat in the European Super Cup, yet, typically, the 28-year-old persevered through the pain to produce a tremendous display.
The France international was equally imposing during the Blues’ league defeat to the Reds on the weekend. Featuring in his first league game in over a month (since Chelsea’s draw against Leicester), Kante dominated proceedings in midfield – a regular occurrence for the Frenchman.
However, his contributions with the ball were equally impressive for Frank Lampard’s team, especially his goal. Afforded the licence to run at the Liverpool defence, Kante evaded several players before firing a tremendous striker into the top corner.
