While Chelsea may not be in action for another week, many of the Blues’ stars are currently in action on international duty. Emerson Palmieri continued his impressive start to the season has he shone in Italy’s 3-1 triumph over Armenia.

Since joining the club in January 2018, Emerson has waited patiently for opportunities to demonstrate his worth.

The Italian has only made 39 appearances for the Blues – and he only featured in ten league games last season.

The 25-year-old was forced to wait until late December to register his first league appearance last term. However, the left-back featured prominently in the Europa League and he assisted Olivier Giroud’s goal in the Blues’ 4-1 win against Arsenal in the final.

The arrival of Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss has signalled an upturn in fortunes for the Brazil-born full-back. Emerson has started every single game for the Blues this season and has vindicated Lampard’s trust with a series of excellent displays.

Such has been Emerson’s influence; he has attained an average rating of 7.57 (via Whoscored) for his league displays so far.

If the left-back sustains his impressive form one can envisage him becoming a key player for the Blues this term.

By judging the reaction of Chelsea supporters on social media, they also recognise Emerson’s worth to the team.

Here’s the best of the reaction:
