With Chelsea’s next league game fast-approaching, the Blues have been handed a boost ahead of their clash against Wolves this weekend.

Having impressed on loan at Wigan Athletic last season, where he won Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Goal of the Season; Reece James is ready to showcase his talent for Chelsea’s senior side.

The 19-year-old has missed the start of the season due to an ankle injury he sustained in January. However, the youngster has been pictured back in training for the Blues – as confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account.

One of the teenager’s primary assets is his versatility. At both youth and senior level, James has played in a multitude of positions that include centre-back, right-back, defensive midfielder and right-midfielder (as per Transfermarkt).

In 46 appearances for the Latics last campaign, James contributed towards six goals (three goals, three assists) – all of which came in the Championship.

Given Frank Lampard’s positive attitude towards youth integration, and the fact that Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Billy Gilmour have all featured in the Premier League, tremendous excitement is evoked regarding Reece James’ potential inclusion.

The teenager has already been named in the Blues’ Champions League squad. By judging the reaction of Chelsea supporters on social media, it seems they’re ecstatic for the 19-year-old to play.

Here’s the best of the reaction:
