Chelsea’s development squad got off to winning ways in the Premier League 2 on Monday night with a couple of first team stars also featuring alongside their youth squad.
Senior boss Frank Lampard was in attendance as Antonio Rudiger managed 90 minutes whilst Michy Batshuayi netted a brace as they secured a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old has been third choice behind both Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham in the Blues’ opening two Premier League matches as well as their UEFA Super Cup tie but his latest performance has drawn support from a number of the Stamford Bridge faithful.
One fan claimed that the Belgian should be banging them in as first choice after playing well in the development squad with another adding that he deserved to start against Norwich at the weekend.
Batshuayi has had three loan spells away from the club since joining in 2016 in a £33m move with the latest coming last season in the Premier League with Crystal Palace where he bagged six goals in 13 appearances.
