Chelsea are currently operating under a transfer ban though the window is soon coming to a close and they’ll have just one more month, later in January, to endure without signing a single player.

It appears that manager Frank Lampard is already preparing for the very moment he can start to sign his own players with German tabloid Bild reporting that he is interested in signing Yann Sommer following the shot-stopper’s impressive performances in their 2-2 pre-season draw.

Sommer is first-choice at Borussia Monchengladbach having played 35 matches last season, occasionally walking out as captain too. He’s also a regular for his national side Switzerland so it remains to be seen whether a move is even viable, especially at this early stage of the year.

Many fans at Stamford Bridge took to Twitter to show their thoughts behind the potential move.

A number of supporters seemed to agree that the goalkeeper would be great back-up option especially as Willy Caballero will finish the season at the age of 38.

Others labelled him ‘really class’ and a ‘top keeper’ throwing their weight behind a move.

Some members of the Stamford Bridge crowd were rather sceptical stating that it’s unlikely the 30-year-old will want to be a back-up.

Here’s the best of the reaction:
