“We need him”, “He better start” – Some Chelsea fans want controversial ace to start vs Liverpool

Ahead of Chelsea’s UEFA Super Cup tie with Liverpool tonight, a number of Blues supporters have been naming the one player they want to be starting.

Frank Lampard’s era as Chelsea boss in the Premier League began with a shocking 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford as Marcus Rashford scored a brace with Anthony Martial and summer arrival Daniel James rounding off the goals.

Now, the West London side have flown out to Istanbul in midweek to face their Premier League rivals in the Super Cup after the two sides won both the European trophies on offer last season. They’ll then face Leicester City on Sunday in the league.

Boarding the flight to Turkey was Willian who was a notable absentee from Lampard’s squad against Manchester United.

The 31-year-old has had a mixed reception from Chelsea fans over the past few seasons – some fans reacted negatively to news he was going to sign a new deal earlier this summer whilst they were also fuming when it was announced he would take Eden Hazard’s number ten shirt.

But it appears after the embarrassing showing on Sunday that they would like the Brazilian to feature with one fan calling it the ‘best news of the day’ as Willian is needed and another added that he better start against Liverpool.

Others couldn’t believe that they had actually missed Willian whilst one supporter claimed he would add experience to the squad.
