Jose Mourinho, the former Chelsea boss-turned-pundit, has given his thoughts on the side Frank Lampard should put out against Liverpool on Wednesday night as the two Premier League sides fight it out in Istanbul for the European Super Cup.

Chelsea’s season started on Sunday with a catastrophic 4-0 defeat to Manchester United with Mourinho in attendance for Sky Sports.

Kurt Zouma felled Marcus Rashford inside the box to hand the young England striker the opening goal before going on to complete a brace either side of a Anthony Martial goal, with summer arrival Daniel James finishing the spoils after coming on as a substitute.

Following the game, Mourinho gave suggestions on the side Lampard should deploy this week. It sees a number of more experienced players return to the starting line-up such as Marcos Alonso at the expense of Emerson – who played rather well at left-back.

N’Golo Kante also returns to the starting line-up in place of either Ross Barkley or Mason Mount whilst Tammy Abraham is benched for Olivier Giroud.

A number of Chelsea fans have been left debating the possible starting eleven as a result.

One supporter said this team is exactly why he would be against Jose Mourinho ever returning to Stamford Bridge – if he did it would be a third spell at the club.

Others shared similar thoughts by stating they stopped reading after they saw Alonso in the side with another adding that the team had ‘drubbing’ written all over it.

Though, some agreed with their former boss so long as Emerson keeps his place above Alonso…

Here’s the best of the reaction:
