The Frank Lampard era began with an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men downed the Blues 4-0.

Marcus Rashford netted a brace which was kickstarted by a penalty before Anthony Martial and summer signing Daniel James made it four to forget.

A number of Chelsea fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts with captain Cesar Azpilicueta receiving the brunt of the criticism following his post-match comments.

One supporter asked the club to take the captaincy from him whilst others claimed the 29-year-old needed to ‘retire or be benched’ following a shocking performance.

Another member of the Stamford Bridge faithful labelled him an ‘absolutely shocking player’ and one fan believes during matches his leadership is non-existent and his performances are lacking.

Azpilicueta has been at the club since 2012 after joining from Marseille for £7m and has gone on to make 338 appearances in the blue colours of West London.
