Talk about timing.

Antonio Rudiger announced his return to training with an aptly-scheduled tweet ahead of the new Premier League season…

It was as if he hadn’t even seen the latest meltdown on social media about David Luiz departing to London rivals Arsenal.

Rudiger sustained a nasty knee injury against Manchester United in April, one that required surgery on his left knee meniscus. He missed Chelsea’s final five matches of the season and looks likely to be absent for the first few games of Frank Lampard’s spell at Stamford Bridge.

A number of fans replied to the 26-year-old ace saying that he was needed more than ever so he better be ready for a big season whilst another wished he was fit for their opening game against United.

Others claimed the German was better than Luiz with one supporter brandishing him the ‘most reliable defender’ at the club.
